Planning a web or software project and feeling overwhelmed by the tech decisions?

I’m Scott — a senior developer and technical project lead with 20+ years of experience helping founders, nonprofits, and business owners go from idea to working product. I’ve guided projects from scratch-built apps to large WordPress networks and complex custom CMS platforms.

This session is ideal if you’re looking for:
• Guidance on picking a tech stack or platform
• Help architecting your database or app structure
• Feedback on dev estimates or timelines
• Advice on hiring or managing a remote team
• Insight on using open-source tools to save time and cost

Depending on your goals, I can also help shape a rough project plan with timelines, milestones, and scope notes — all tailored to your situation.

I speak both tech and human, and I won’t overwhelm you with jargon. Whether you’re technical or just trying to get the right team in place, I’ll help you make informed decisions and move forward with clarity.

Hi, I’m Scott — a goofy web developer who’s been doing this since dinosaurs needed websites. I started messing with code as a kid on an Apple IIe and somehow never stopped.

I find I work best with laid-back small business owners and non-profits. Clients usually come to me for WordPress tweaks, Shopify oddities, mysterious bugs, full site builds, and even legacy PHP code that’s been running for fifteen years and went bonkers on the latest version of PHP. Other times it might be reviewing their site, creating an email signature, or simply answering technical questions.

I enjoy being a mechanic under the hood of a website, grease on my hands and a smudge across my face. Fixing a weird plugin, patching old decayed code, giving the 1’s and 0’s the occasional talking-to, and keeping sites stable, well-tuned, and quietly humming away.

Many clients like using me for ongoing, as-needed support. I charge hourly and don’t use retainers. Clients hang around, pinging me when they need help. Some have been doing that for over 10 years. They ping me with tasks, I add them to my queue and we work through them in the order they came in. So nothing slips through the cracks, and everything gets the attention it deserves.

My CFO Jack keeps an eye on things too. Being the Chief Furry Officer and a three-legged Chihuahua, his main duties involve seeking scratches, handing out slurps, and getting paid in treats.

Drop me a note — the first hour is free. We can chat or schedule a call to bounce around the details and explore what might be involved. From there you can decide if I’m a good fit or if you’d rather go another direction.

(BTW — dinosaurs were terrible at passwords. They kept eating the cookies.)

"I’ve worked with Scott remotely since 2010. When I was in Las Vegas for Photoshop World 2013, we met for the first time in person. I’ve always found Scott helpful and responsive to my problems. I appreciate getting timely replies to my emails. I’m happy to recommend Scott to you. Thanks for the great work on my recent urgent PHP project. It is always a pleasure to work with you."
-- Connie Taylor, Fathom Publishing

"I've worked with Scott for quite some time on a wide variety of coding tasks for my web site and after previously reviewing dozens of applicants, I knew I made the best decision to go with him. His calm demeanor and skillsets encompassing both front and backend programming saved me quite a few times. I'd highly recommend him. His availability and patience could not be matched. You won't go wrong with him. His ethics are top notch and he won't belittle your coding attempts. He's an all around great guy, both as a person as well as a contractor."
