Remote medical coding services might include:

• Review patient charts to determine documentation and billing accuracy and compliance
• Use medical coding system to bill insurance companies and patients and appeal denied claims
• Facilitate daily primary billing functions such as charge entry, claims submissions, payment posting, and collections
• Protect confidentiality in accordance with federal guidelines and payer/provider contracts
  

Requirements to become a freelance remote medical coding specialist on Upwork:

• Must be over the age of 18 with an internet connection
• Experience is not required but is preferred
  

Preferred skills for remote medical coding freelancers:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with electronic medical records
