Academic Editor — Issue Briefs (Contract, with potential for ongoing work) We are seeking a skilled academic editor to copyedit and substantively edit policy issue briefs (~2,500 words each) produced by subject matter experts in the energy sector. The editor will ensure manuscripts are clear, well-organized, and polished for a professional policy audience. Responsibilities Copyedit for grammar, syntax, punctuation, consistency, and style Apply Chicago Manual of Style (notes-bibliography or author-date, as specified) Improve clarity and flow without altering the author's voice or technical content Flag logical gaps, structural issues, or unclear passages for author review Verify citation formatting and flag incomplete references Qualifications Demonstrated experience editing academic or policy-oriented writing Strong command of Chicago style Ability to work with technical subject matter without requiring subject expertise Reliable turnaround on short documents; specific deadlines communicated per project Familiarity with tracked changes in Microsoft Word or Google Docs Engagement This begins as a contract position on a per-brief basis. Depending on fit and volume, there is potential for ongoing work with at least one brief per month.
