Accountants & Controllers — Help Build Tests for AI (Ongoing, 10,000+ Tasks)
Worldwide
We're building tests that measure whether AI systems can actually do real accounting work — and we need people who do that work for a living to design them. Most AI benchmarks for finance are written by people who have never closed a month, chased a reconciling item, or explained a variance to a controller. The result is tests that look impressive and prove nothing. We're trying to fix that, and it only works if the tasks come from people who have done the job. We're tool-agnostic: SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Sage — the reasoning is what matters, not the system. This is corporate accounting rather than small-business bookkeeping. What you'd actually do: - Take a piece of work you've genuinely done — a reconciliation, a close task, a costing exercise, a forecast build — and turn it into a task an AI system has to attempt - Define what "correct" looks like, and just as importantly, what a plausible-looking wrong answer looks like - Review tasks other accountants have written and flag anything that wouldn't survive a real close The interesting part: you'll see exactly where these systems fall over on real accounting work. Most people guess about that. You'd know. This is not a one-off. We have over 10,000 tasks to work through and we're bringing on up to 100 practitioners to do it. Individual tasks pay between $50 and $250 depending on complexity, and there is steady ongoing work for people whose tasks hold up well. Who we're looking for — we're hiring across levels, from analysts through to controllers: - Close and reporting: senior accountant, financial reporting, consolidations, intercompany - Costing and inventory: cost accountant, inventory/COGS, fixed assets - Revenue and tax: revenue accountant (ASC 606), indirect tax, income tax/provision - Planning and treasury: FP&A analyst, senior FP&A analyst/manager, treasury analyst - Transactional: AP/AR specialist, payroll accountant — including earlier-career, we're not gating these on years - Controls and systems: internal controls/SOX analyst, ERP finance systems analyst - Controllers and assistant controllers, who we also use as reviewers of other people's tasks - Real in-house or practice experience, not only coursework or bookkeeping-only work - Able to write clearly enough that another accountant could follow your task exactly - 10+ hours a week you can spend on this Important: you'd author from representative examples you construct yourself. Never real client data, PII, or confidential financials. Paid per task completed. We work with 100+ practitioners, so everything runs async and in writing — no meetings. To apply, answer the questions below. We read every answer — the question about junior mistakes matters more to us than your years of experience.
