Additive Manufacturing Trainer/SME – U.S. Defense Overview, Export-Compliant Training

We are looking for an experienced additive manufacturing trainer or subject matter expert to deliver a professional training session for an international client from South Korea. The training should examine the current state of the U.S. industrial environment for additive manufacturing and its applicability and utility in the defense industry. The course must be designed and delivered in full compliance with all applicable U.S. laws and regulations, including export-control restrictions. Security-sensitive, classified, controlled, ITAR/EAR-restricted, proprietary, or non-public defense information must be omitted. This should be a high-level technical and industry overview based on publicly available, releasable information. The training should cover two main areas: 1. Overview of Additive Manufacturing - Major additive manufacturing methods and their characteristics - Materials used in additive manufacturing - Material properties, accuracy, build time, build size, and other practical considerations - Additive manufacturing process flow - Facility setup considerations for additive manufacturing - Recent changes in the U.S. manufacturing and additive manufacturing industry environment 2. Applications in the Defense Industry - Publicly discussable defense-industry use cases - Examples related to Army, Navy, aerospace, aircraft carriers, sustainment, tooling, repair parts, and similar areas, where appropriate - Additive manufacturing for defense materiel support, including replacement parts, repair parts, sustainment, and supply-chain resilience - Standards and qualification/certification considerations commonly relevant to additive manufacturing in the U.S. defense industry - Future development directions for additive manufacturing in defense Important compliance requirement: The trainer must understand the sensitivity of delivering defense-related training to a foreign client and must be able to clearly separate publicly available, general educational content from controlled technical data or restricted defense know-how. The session should not include weapon design, controlled defense technical data, sensitive manufacturing parameters, classified information, restricted drawings, proprietary defense contractor information, or any hands-on instruction that could violate U.S. export-control rules. Ideal trainer background: - Additive manufacturing / 3D printing expert - Experience with aerospace, defense, DoD, military sustainment, or advanced manufacturing preferred - Familiarity with metal AM, polymer AM, materials, qualification, inspection, and standards - Awareness of ITAR, EAR, CUI, export controls, and foreign-person training restrictions - Ability to create a clear, structured curriculum for a professional audience - Strong presentation and communication skills - Experience delivering training or executive briefings preferred Deliverables may include: - Proposed course outline - Slide deck or training materials - Live instructor-led delivery - Optional pre-course planning call to confirm scope and compliance boundaries When applying, please include: - Your additive manufacturing background - Any aerospace, defense, DoD, or defense-contractor-related experience - Your familiarity with export-control-sensitive training environments - Examples of similar training or presentations you have delivered - Your recommended duration for this training - Confirmation that you can design the course using only publicly available and legally shareable information This engagement requires a trainer who can balance technical depth, industry insight, and strict compliance boundaries.
