About Ontos Tech Ontos Tech is an IT consulting and technology services company supporting small and medium-sized businesses with: Fractional CTO and IT strategy advisory Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace setup and migration Cybersecurity assessments and hardening Managed IT support and protection Web application and custom software development Our service packages currently range from approximately $800 to $18,000 for project-based engagements and from $800 to $4,000 per month for recurring services. We are looking for an experienced freelance salesperson or business development professional who can identify, approach, qualify, and convert potential B2B clients. Initial Engagement This is not a salaried employment position. During the initial trial period, there will be no fixed monthly salary or retainer. The primary compensation will be based on successfully closed and paid client contracts. The selected freelancer will be expected to source the first client independently through their own prospecting activities, professional network, LinkedIn outreach, cold email, partnerships, or other ethical B2B sales methods. For the first client to qualify as a successful conversion: The lead must be sourced by the freelancer; The client must sign an agreement for one of Ontos Tech’s services; and Ontos Tech must receive the client’s first payment. You will receive the approved service descriptions, pricing information, company positioning, and the basic information required to present Ontos Tech accurately. However, during the initial phase, prospect identification and outreach will be managed independently by the freelancer. Once the first client has been successfully secured and we confirm that we work effectively together, Ontos Tech may provide: A company email account; CRM access; Sales and outreach tools; Marketing and presentation materials; Prospect lists and company-generated leads; Technical support during sales meetings; Additional training on our services; and The possibility of a monthly retainer or longer-term compensation arrangement. Commission Structure First Self-Sourced Client The freelancer will receive: 20% of net revenue collected from the first project-based contract; or 20% of collected monthly revenue for the first six months of a recurring service contract. Examples: A $2,000 cybersecurity engagement generates a $400 commission. An $8,000 software development project generates a $1,600 commission. A $1,600-per-month managed IT contract generates up to $1,920 in commission over six months. After the Initial Trial Subject to successful performance, the indicative commission structure will be: 15% of collected revenue for independently sourced project-based clients; 15% of collected monthly revenue for the first six months of independently sourced recurring clients; 10% of collected revenue for clients generated from leads provided by Ontos Tech. A fixed monthly retainer, salary-like arrangement, or alternative commission model may be discussed after consistent results and an active client pipeline have been established. Commission is calculated on net amounts actually collected by Ontos Tech, excluding taxes, refunds, discounts, chargebacks, software licences, subcontractor costs, and other agreed third-party pass-through expenses. All freelancer compensation will be processed through Upwork. Responsibilities Identify businesses that may need Ontos Tech’s services; Develop and manage an independent prospecting strategy; Conduct cold email, LinkedIn, networking, and other B2B outreach; Qualify prospects based on their business and technology requirements; Arrange and participate in discovery meetings; Present the relevant Ontos Tech service packages; Maintain accurate records of outreach and prospect status; Coordinate with Ontos Tech’s technical team when specialist input is required; Follow up with prospects and support the sales process through contract signature; Avoid making technical, pricing, delivery, or contractual commitments without approval. Ideal Candidate Proven experience in B2B sales, business development, lead generation, or technology sales; Experience selling IT consulting, managed services, cybersecurity, cloud services, SaaS, or software development; Ability to source prospects independently; Strong written and spoken English; Confident communication and negotiation skills; Understanding of consultative and solution-based selling; Existing business relationships or a professional network are an advantage; Comfortable working in a performance-based environment; Able to represent the company professionally and accurately. We are particularly interested in freelancers with access to SMEs, startups, professional services companies, healthcare providers, financial services companies, e-commerce businesses, and organizations without a full internal IT department. What to Include in Your Proposal Please answer the following: What IT or professional services have you sold previously? How would you find the first client for Ontos Tech? Which industries or geographical markets would you target? What outreach channels would you use? Do you currently have access to a relevant professional network? What is the average value of the contracts you have previously closed? Are you comfortable beginning with a commission-led compensation model? Please provide examples of measurable sales results. Generic proposals that do not address these questions may not be considered. We are looking for a reliable long-term sales partner, not someone who only provides an unqualified list of contacts.
