Billing assistant

Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Assistant to support the daily billing operations of a busy Neurology practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing medical claims, following up on insurance payments, managing patient billing inquiries, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services rendered. Responsibilities * Prepare, submit, and track medical insurance claims. * Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. * Review and correct claim denials, rejections, and underpayments. * Follow up with insurance companies regarding outstanding claims. * Process patient payments and maintain accurate billing records. * Assist patients with billing questions and payment arrangements. * Reconcile accounts and generate billing reports as needed. * Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare billing regulations. * Coordinate with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative personnel to resolve billing issues. * Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information. Qualifications Required * High school diploma or equivalent. * Previous experience in medical billing, healthcare administration, or a related field. * Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing procedures. * Strong attention to detail and accuracy. * Excellent organizational and time-management skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). * Strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred * Experience working in a Neurology practice. * Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding. * Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Practice Management systems. * Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or related certification is a plus.
