[20th of June – still open!] Book Marketer for Dystopian/Political Sci-Fi – Strategy and Execution
Worldwide
Hi, I’m Mikhail, I’m looking for a book marketer who can build and [IMPORTANT] execute a promotional strategy for my debut novel. I’m open to any approach that makes sense for the book. What I need is someone who understands the book’s positioning and can recommend the right channels, not just run one playbook. The book is ‘Android Against Moscow’, published on Amazon (Kindle, paperback, hardcover). It’s set in a near-future authoritarian Russia and follows an elderly theatre scholar and his domestic android as they steal classified evidence of state-sponsored historical falsification and try to escape the country. The genre is dystopian science fiction with political themes. Written by a Russian émigré living in Germany. What didn’t work: I previously ran an email outreach campaign that sent roughly 5500 emails to a broad list (poorly targeted?). The open rate was above 40%, but no purchases or reviews followed. Several contacts turned out to be genre mismatches – horror reviewers, psychological thriller bloggers – people who were never going to connect with this book. I don’t want to repeat that approach. What I already have: A published book. Some audiobook chapters. A prologue video on my YouTube channel. Graphics. What I need is someone who knows what to do with all this stuff. https://www.amazon.com/Android-Against-Moscow-T-Woods/dp/B0GYYZFBQ5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh45nAewfjU About the book’s audience: I’m not an expert, but this is probably not mainstream commercial fiction. AI says that the readers who’d love this book are people who read Zamyatin, Orwell, Huxley, Philip K. Dick, Kazuo Ishiguro’s ‘Never Let Me Go’. They care about surveillance, AI consciousness, authoritarianism, and what happens to individuals caught inside political machinery. The marketing needs to find those readers specifically, not cast a wide net and hope. One more thing: the androids are inspired by the game ‘Detroit: Become Human’. I changed the shape of those LEDs, but the Detroit fans will immediately recognise them. But Kara’s story is totally different from Dasha’s. In your proposal, please tell me: What strategy would you recommend for a book with this profile, and why? What channels would you prioritise? Whether you’ve marketed books outside mainstream American commercial fiction, particularly anything with international, European or Russian themes. How you handle reporting and communication. How you structure your pricing. Budget is negotiable. I’d rather invest in a focused strategy that reaches the right readers than pay for volume that reaches no one. I realise that you don’t have time to read all the works. Feel free to ask for a review copy. You may feed it to AI (Claude and Gemini are the most practical helpers in this regard), and I’ll tell you what the machine got right.
