Remote Bookkeeping & Finance Administration Contractor Immediate Project with Long-Term Opportunity ABOUT TIMBER REVIVAL Timber Revival is an Australian manufacturer and online retailer of premium timber products, supplying customers throughout Australia. THE OPPORTUNITY We're seeking an experienced remote bookkeeping contractor to assist with an immediate finance catch-up project, followed by an ongoing engagement of approximately 10–15 hours per week. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and working closely with a small business where your contribution is genuinely valued. Stage 1 – Immediate Priority Our immediate objective is to bring our bookkeeping completely up to date through to the end of the financial year so our BAS and financial records can be prepared and submitted by 20 September. This will require revisions of Q2 & Q3 submissions and the full preparation of Q4 data. This project will include: Entering outstanding supplier bills Accounts payable processing Accounts receivable reconciliation Bank, Stripe and general ledger reconciliations Reviewing historical transactions and correcting coding where required Resolving discrepancies Ensuring all accounts are accurate and fully reconciled Preparing the business for year-end reporting We're looking for someone who can commence quickly and work independently with minimal supervision. Stage 2 – Ongoing Engagement (10–15 hours per week) Following successful completion of the catch-up project, we'd like to retain the successful contractor for ongoing bookkeeping and finance administration support. Responsibilities will include: Daily allocation of customer receipts Accounts payable processing Weekly sales reporting Bank and account reconciliations Inventory-related bookkeeping General finance administration Supporting our sales team with finance-related enquiries Identifying opportunities to improve systems and efficiency Assisting with implementation of improved workflows and automation Software You'll Be Using Experience with the following (or similar platforms) is highly desirable: MYOB AccountRight Microsoft 365 Excel Stripe, PayPal & B2B payment platforms AI & Process Improvement HubSpot (not essential) We're passionate about improving efficiency and making better use of technology. We're looking for someone who actively embraces AI and automation whilst maintaining a keen eye for the detail, rather than simply completing repetitive bookkeeping tasks. As part of your application, we'd love to hear about: AI tools you've used (ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or similar) Workflow automation you've created using Power Automate, Zapier, Make or other platforms Examples where you've significantly reduced manual work or improved reporting Any bookkeeping or finance processes you've redesigned to improve efficiency ABOUT YOU You'll ideally have: Certificate IV or higher in Accounting or Bookkeeping At least 3 years' bookkeeping experience Strong reconciliation skills MYOB AccountRight experience Excellent Excel skills Experience working with inventory-based businesses (preferred) Excellent written English High attention to detail Strong organisational skills The ability to work independently and proactively Most importantly, you're someone who enjoys improving businesses—not just processing transactions. WORKING ARRANGEMENT This is a fully remote contractor position. To ensure effective collaboration with our Australian-based team, we're looking for someone who can work a consistent schedule each week. We're seeking availability during at least part of our core business hours (AEST/AEDT), ideally between 9:00am and 3:00pm Monday to Friday. While additional hours can certainly be completed outside these times, it's important that there is regular overlap with our team so questions can be answered promptly, priorities can be discussed and work can continue without unnecessary delays.
