We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of our growing freight brokerage. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the smooth flow of financial transactions between customers, carriers, and vendors. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Experience in transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage is a plus but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who possesses strong bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals. Key Responsibilities: Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping functions for the company. Process customer invoices and ensure timely and accurate billing. Verify, audit, and process carrier invoices for payment. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. Monitor customer balances and assist with collections efforts. Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and financial records. Maintain and update vendor, carrier, and customer account information. Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing processes. Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review. Track and organize supporting documentation for accounting transactions. Ensure accuracy of freight-related billing and settlement transactions. Assist with payroll administration and employee expense reporting. Maintain compliance with company policies and accounting procedures. Work closely with operations and brokerage teams to resolve billing discrepancies. Support audits and provide documentation as needed. Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration experience. Strong understanding of bookkeeping and general accounting principles. Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar accounting software. Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Professional written and verbal communication skills. High level of integrity and confidentiality. Preferred: Experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or supply chain operations. Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Experience with customer billing, carrier payments, and freight settlements. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Success in This Role The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, ensure timely customer billing and carrier payments, support healthy cash flow, and provide financial visibility that helps continue to grow and serve its customers at the highest level.
