Build Microsoft Purview eDiscovery for future DSAR requests

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Purview Consultant to assess, optimise, and mature our existing Microsoft Purview environment. The primary objective of this engagement is to ensure our organisation is fully prepared to respond effectively to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other regulatory compliance requirements. The successful consultant will review our current configuration, identify gaps, recommend best practices, and implement improvements across the Purview suite to establish a robust and defensible compliance framework. Key areas of focus will include Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Standard and/or Premium), Content Search, and Insider Risk Management. The consultant will be expected to design and configure processes that enable efficient discovery, preservation, review, and export of relevant information, while ensuring appropriate governance, auditing, and access controls are in place. Experience in implementing and tuning Insider Risk Management policies, managing investigations, and aligning capabilities with regulatory and organisational requirements is essential. In addition, we would welcome expertise in Microsoft Purview Information Protection, Data Lifecycle Management, Records Management, Data Classification, and Compliance Manager. The consultant should be capable of advising on sensitivity labels, retention policies, data classification strategies, and overall compliance maturity to ensure that personal data can be identified, governed, protected, and retrieved efficiently when required. We are looking for an individual who can provide both strategic guidance and hands-on technical implementation, leaving us with a well-governed, operationally effective, and audit-ready Purview environment. Essential Skills • Extensive experience implementing and managing Microsoft Purview. • Strong expertise in eDiscovery (Standard and Premium). • Experience configuring and operationalising Insider Risk Management. • Knowledge of DSAR processes and regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR and UK GDPR). • Expertise in Content Search, audit logging, and compliance investigations. • Experience with Sensitivity Labels, Auto-Labelling, and Information Protection. • Experience with Data Lifecycle Management and Retention Policies. • Ability to perform assessments, gap analyses, and remediation planning. • Strong stakeholder engagement and documentation skills. Nice to Have • Compliance Manager implementation experience. • Records Management expertise. • Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policy design and deployment. • Microsoft Defender and Insider Risk integrations. • Experience supporting regulated industries and audit preparation.
