Part-Time Accountant (Hourly) — Dissimilar Media Ventures About the role Dissimilar Media Ventures is looking for a detail-oriented accountant to help bring structure and clarity to our business finances. This is a flexible, part-time engagement built around a fixed set of recurring tasks each week. You'll work a predictable number of hours per month, and we pay only for the hours actually worked on agreed activities. This is ideal for an experienced accountant or bookkeeper who values a steady, well-defined arrangement rather than full-time employment. What you'll do We'll agree together on a consistent weekly set of activities, which may include: Recording and categorizing income and expenses Reconciling bank and credit card accounts Organizing receipts, invoices, and financial documents Tracking outstanding invoices and payments (AR/AP) Preparing simple monthly summaries so we always know where the business stands Flagging anything that needs attention (tax deadlines, unusual charges, cash-flow concerns) Helping set up or improve our bookkeeping system and filing structure The goal is simple: keep our financial matters organized, current, and easy to understand. How the engagement works A fixed allocation of hours per month, agreed in advance A defined, recurring list of weekly tasks so expectations are clear on both sides You log your time, and we pay only for hours worked on those agreed activities Mostly remote and flexible, as long as the weekly tasks are completed on schedule What we're looking for Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting (small business experience a plus) Comfortable with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) Organized, reliable, and able to work independently Clear communicator who can explain financial matters in plain language Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive financial information To apply Please share a short summary of your relevant experience, the software you work with, your hourly rate, and your general availability.
