CFD Consultant for MDI Research

We are looking for an experienced CFD engineer with SimScale expertise to mentor a high school student on an educational biomedical engineering research project. The project aims to study particle deposition inside a Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) using CFD. The consultant should guide the student through the complete simulation process rather than simply performing the work. Scope Develop/refine a simplified 3D CAD model of an MDI (canister, valve, actuator, mouthpiece) Import geometry into SimScale Create mesh and define boundary conditions Simulate propellant flow with particle tracking Analyze particle deposition on internal surfaces Compare different wall interaction (sticking) coefficients representing untreated and charge-dissipative/antistatic surfaces Assist with interpreting results and preparing figures for a research paper Preferred Skills Strong SimScale CFD experience Particle tracking / multiphase flow Internal flow simulations Aerosol or inhaler CFD experience is a plus Ability to explain engineering concepts to a student Engagement Consultancy and mentoring role Meet with the student during US Eastern Time evenings or weekends Approximately 10 hours over 2 to 3 weeks Help troubleshoot simulations, review progress, and answer technical questions When Applying Please include: Your SimScale experience Similar CFD projects Availability during US Eastern Time Preference will be given to candidates with experience in aerosol transport, pharmaceutical CFD, inhaler devices, or particle deposition modeling.
