Children’s Book Formatter and Prepress Specialist Needed We are seeking an experienced children’s book formatter who can take completed illustrations and professionally place the text throughout the book. This is not an illustration position. The artwork will already be completed. The formatter will be responsible for preparing the entire book for printing and publication, including both the interior pages and the book cover. The ideal candidate must have experience with: Formatting illustrated children’s books Professionally placing text on completed illustrations Creating print-ready interior files Preparing paperback and hardcover covers Calculating and applying trim size, bleed, margins, safe areas, and spine width Following the technical requirements of KDP and other printing companies Adjusting files to meet different printer templates and specifications Working with the latest publishing and formatting software Reviewing files for resolution, color settings, fonts, image placement, and print-quality issues Providing final print-ready PDF files for the cover and interior Making corrections when a printer identifies a technical issue Assisting with minor copy placement and proofreading concerns before final submission The formatter must understand that each printing company may have different requirements. We need someone who can carefully review printer guidelines, communicate clearly, and prepare files correctly without repeated rejections. Experience formatting 32-page illustrated children’s picture books is strongly preferred. Please provide samples of children’s books you have formatted, explain which printing platforms you have worked with, and describe your quality-control process before submitting a book for printing.
