Commercial and residential cost estimating

The Construction Estimator will serve as a key member of Company X’s preconstruction team, responsible for managing the estimating process from initial document review through final bid pricing. This role will prepare the basis of estimate, review drawings and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, identify scope gaps, prepare RFIs, level subcontractor bids, price general conditions, and develop complete bid summaries. The estimator will rely on construction knowledge, field judgment, historical cost data, benchmark pricing, and current market conditions to produce accurate, competitive, and well-documented estimates. Every assumption, exclusion, allowance, and pricing decision must be clearly captured to support consistency, transparency, and continuous improvement across Company X’s pursuits. This is a hands-on estimating role for someone who can independently manage scope definition, takeoff, subcontractor comparison, and final pricing while working closely with project leadership and operations. The Construction Estimator will support bid strategy, evaluate subcontractor coverage based on best value rather than lowest price, review overhead and margin assumptions, and help maintain Company X’s internal cost benchmarks through bid logs, win/loss analysis, and project closeout feedback. The ideal candidate has strong commercial construction estimating experience, understands CSI divisions and construction sequencing, is comfortable reading architectural, structural, civil, and MEP documents, and can translate incomplete or evolving bid information into a clear, defensible, and accurate estimate.
