US HR Compliance Consultant (Startup / Part-Time) We are an early-stage AI startup with a distributed international team, looking for a practical and experienced US HR Compliance Consultant to help us navigate employment compliance and operational HR topics as we grow our US presence. We are looking for someone hands-on who can support founders with practical guidance, operational setup, and compliance best practices in a fast-moving startup environment. What You’ll Help With US HR Compliance & Employment Operations Advise on multi-state employment compliance requirements Support onboarding processes for US employees and contractors Help navigate employer obligations across different US states Provide guidance around employee vs contractor classification Support payroll and HR operational compliance processes Assist with benefits and health insurance coordination Help build lightweight but scalable HR operational processes Identify compliance risks and recommend practical solutions Operational Support Research and organize compliance-related information Coordinate with external providers, brokers, or legal partners when needed Help founders understand operational requirements and next steps Support documentation and process organization Ideal Background Experience in US HR compliance, HR Operations, People Operations, or Employment Compliance Strong understanding of multi-state US employment requirements Experience supporting startups or distributed remote teams Practical and business-oriented mindset Ability to explain complex compliance topics in a simple and actionable way Strong communication and organizational skills Nice to Have Experience working with startup or SaaS companies Familiarity with Gusto or similar payroll/HR platforms Experience supporting international founders hiring in the US Knowledge of benefits and health insurance coordination
