Summary

Creative Director Remote Full-Time PST Hours Agency Focus: Publicity, Publishing, Brand Campaigns, and Visual Content Production About the Agency We are supporting a boutique creative and publicity-focused agency that works with high-level professionals, authors, speakers, media personalities, executives, and content-driven brands. The agency supports clients across brand positioning, campaign launches, visual storytelling, digital content, creative assets, and promotional materials. We are looking for a Creative Director who understands strategy, premium design, professional branding, and strong visual storytelling. This person should be able to take a high-level idea and turn it into clear creative direction, strong concepts, polished visuals, and well-executed campaign assets. Role Overview You will serve as the bridge between creative vision and final output. The leadership team and select clients will come to you with strategic goals, and you will be responsible for interpreting those goals into creative concepts, visual direction, messaging frameworks, and execution plans. This is not a purely managerial role. The right person must be able to concept, write, design, direct, and review creative work when needed. You should be comfortable owning the creative process from idea to execution, while also working with or guiding freelance designers, web builders, video editors, and copywriters where needed. You are the creative lead who helps turn unclear ideas into clear, professional, visually strong campaigns. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Creative Direction * Translate high-level goals from leadership and clients into actionable creative roadmaps. * Develop look and feel, visual direction, tone, messaging hierarchy, and campaign concepts. * Create visual identities and campaign direction for launches, events, digital campaigns, media projects, and professional brand initiatives. * Ensure all creative work feels polished, strategic, premium, and aligned with the client’s brand goals. * Avoid generic design and bring a thoughtful, elevated creative perspective to each project. 2. Asset Production and Creative Oversight You will personally create or direct others to create: * Social media assets including carousels, quote graphics, Reel covers, static ads, and platform-specific graphics. * Print and digital collateral including posters, event banners, slide decks, one-sheets, and campaign materials. * Website and landing page layouts, homepage copy, ad copy, email banners, and promotional content. * Video and production-related assets such as lower thirds, title cards, thumbnails, and key visual concepts. 3. Team Leadership and Freelance Fulfillment * Lead and coordinate a small group of freelance specialists, which may include graphic designers, web designers, video editors, and copywriters. * Assign tasks clearly and provide detailed creative direction. * Review deliverables for brand alignment, quality, visual consistency, and strategic strength. * Provide specific revision notes that help improve the quality of the final asset. * Ensure deadlines are met without needing to micromanage the team. 4. Client and Leadership Collaboration * Participate in client kickoff calls to understand creative needs, goals, preferences, and brand direction. * Help clients articulate what they want when they are unclear or unsure. * Present mood boards, style frames, draft concepts, copy ideas, and creative direction for approval. * Push back professionally when a request may weaken the strategy, brand positioning, or final output. * Communicate clearly with leadership and clients throughout the creative process. What Success Looks Like 30 Days: * Understand the agency’s creative standards, internal workflow, and client expectations. * Shadow or support at least two active client projects. * Create a sample poster, campaign concept, or social media asset set for a launch or campaign. 60 Days: * Lead a creative campaign from concept to final delivery. * Manage at least one designer, video editor, or other freelance creative specialist. * Present creative concepts with minimal support from leadership. 90 Days: * Own creative direction across multiple active projects. * Lead client-facing creative conversations with confidence. * Become a trusted creative lead who can take a high-level idea and turn it into clear direction, strong visuals, and final deliverables. Must-Have Qualifications * 5+ years of experience in a Creative Director, Art Director, Senior Designer, Brand Designer, or similar role. * Strong portfolio showing premium visual work across social media, campaigns, posters, brand assets, web layouts, and/or launch materials. * Ability to write strong copy including headlines, taglines, ad copy, website messaging, and short-form campaign copy. * Strong design judgment and ability to explain why certain creative choices work. * Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. * Comfortable using Canva for fast-turnaround creative work. * Experience with Figma or a similar tool for web layouts and mockups. * Experience leading or briefing freelancers, designers, editors, or web support teams. * Comfortable with fast-paced revisions, changing direction, and multiple stakeholder inputs. Nice-to-Have Qualifications * Experience with publishing, book launches, covers, typography, or editorial design. * Experience with film, media, entertainment, documentary, or campaign-style visual assets. * Basic understanding of motion graphics, video editing, After Effects, or Premiere Pro. * Familiarity with Asana, ClickUp, Slack, or similar remote collaboration tools. Terms and Logistics * Location: Fully remote. * Time Zone: Must be able to overlap with PST working hours. * Compensation: Hourly rate. * Invoicing: Monthly, net-15. * Equipment: Contractor must provide their own computer, software licenses, and design tools. * Hours: Varies based on project load, with potential for 10–40 hours per week. * Contractor Role: This is a 1099 contractor position. * Additional hours must be approved in advance.
