Digital SAT Coach for Test Strategy, Skill Development, and Accountability
Worldwide
We are looking for a friendly, knowledgeable SAT coach to work virtually with our son over the next few months. He is a bright and capable student who recently began using Acely.com, an AI-based SAT preparation program. He has taken the actual SAT once and scored a 1280. He has ambitious goals and would like to raise his score into the 1500s, ideally around 1550, for the universities he hopes to attend. He wants substantive, one-on-one coaching from someone who understands the digital SAT and can teach him how to approach the test strategically. We are also looking for someone who can provide frequent, ideally near-daily, check-ins to help him stay on schedule, follow through on assignments, and make adjustments when needed. The coaching should include identifying weaknesses, reviewing mistakes, improving pacing, deciding when to skip or return to questions, recognizing common question patterns, using process of elimination, managing time and pressure, and developing an effective overall test-taking plan. He has identified Desmos as one area where he needs to improve, and he would benefit from practical instruction on how to use it efficiently during the SAT. We would also like the coach to help determine which math, reading, writing, and test-taking skills need the most attention based on his results. He tends to procrastinate but works well when he has clear deadlines, specific assignments, and someone checking his progress. We are looking for a coach who can combine genuine SAT instruction with organization, accountability, and encouragement. The right person will be friendly and approachable, but also prepared to give him concrete work, evaluate his performance, and keep him moving toward his goal. The ideal arrangement would include frequent short check-ins, potentially almost daily, along with longer coaching sessions as needed for instruction, strategy, practice-test review, and help with difficult concepts or questions. **Responsibilities may include:** * Evaluating his current strengths and weaknesses * Developing a focused study plan based on his 1280 starting score and target score * Teaching digital SAT test-taking strategies, pacing, and time management * Reviewing missed questions and identifying patterns in his errors * Helping him improve his Desmos skills and SAT math approach * Providing coaching in SAT reading and writing strategies * Assigning specific work and setting realistic deadlines * Monitoring his Acely progress and helping him use the program effectively * Providing frequent accountability check-ins * Helping him prepare mentally and strategically for test day We are not looking for an authoritarian or overly rigid tutor. We are looking for someone positive, patient, energetic, and able to build a good rapport with a high school student while still providing serious instruction and holding him accountable. Experience with the current digital SAT is important. Familiarity with Desmos, Bluebook practice tests, Acely, and current SAT question formats would be especially valuable. Experience helping students make substantial score improvements would be a strong plus. We are located in California. He is a night owl, so late-afternoon and evening sessions in Pacific Time can work well, including relatively late hours. Morning availability is not important and generally would not be a good fit. We prefer someone located in the United States, but we are open to highly qualified candidates elsewhere who have strong SAT experience and compatible availability. **Please include the following in your application:** 1. Your experience coaching students for the digital SAT 2. Examples of score improvements achieved by students you have coached 3. Your approach to teaching SAT test-taking strategy, not just academic content 4. Your familiarity with Desmos and SAT math techniques 5. How you would structure frequent accountability check-ins and longer coaching sessions 6. Your availability during Pacific Time afternoons and evenings 7. Your hourly rate or proposed pricing structure 8. A brief description of your coaching style This will likely be a three-month engagement, with the possibility of continuing depending on his testing schedule and progress.
