Summary

We’re looking for an exceptionally experienced ecommerce website designer to improve our DTC mattress shopping experience for high-intent purchases—where visitors are emotionally and cognitively closer to buying. Brand: Cotton Sleep Website: www.cottonsleep.com Platform: Shopify Current theme: Space (Shopify Theme “Space” by Brickspace Lab — Presets: Space) We're used to making changes on the fly with this, but open to ideas. Why This Matters Buying a mattress online is inherently high-consideration and high-trust. People arrive with skepticism and risk concerns, and the experience needs to: build trust quickly reduce perceived risk handle objections clearly guide the buyer to checkout with momentum We also run ad traffic (or similar intent-driven traffic), so we need a designer who understands advertising principles as they translate onsite—how the message from ads should carry through the page hierarchy into a purchase decision. What We Need (Primary Focus) The primary goal is conversion-to-purchase design for a high-ticket ecommerce product (mattress). Email signup is allowed (and we may use Klaviyo for email capture), but the design work must be primarily optimized for: purchase intent trust + risk reduction better PDP and landing-page decision flow What This Project Covers (Scope TBD) We’ll confirm the exact pages/sections after we review proposals, but may include: Homepage + key landing pages designed for purchase intent (not primarily for email capture) Product page (PDP) UX/UI specifically for mattress buying friction: materials/ingredient clarity objection handling (off-gassing concerns, heat, flame retardants, durability) trial/warranty/returns/shipping messaging clarity scannable proof and credibility structure Trust & proof architecture (reviews, guarantees, certifications/standards, ingredient storytelling) CRO-focused layout + hierarchy (information flow, CTA placement, mobile purchase experience) Reusable components/sections (design system style so future changes stay consistent) Optional: performance-friendly design patterns (as part of the UX design) Non-Negotiable Requirements Real ecommerce design experience with high-ticket DTC purchases (mattress/home/premium wellness preferred). Verified understanding of buyer psychology + ad-intent behavior as it applies to ecommerce pages. Verifiable portfolio/case studies (not just general UI design). Experience designing trust-heavy product pages where risk perception must be reduced quickly. Strong premium design taste while maintaining clarity and scannability. Deliverables (Typical) Figma (or equivalent) designs for the agreed pages/sections UX flow + hierarchy decisions (what changes and why) Reusable components/sections documented for implementation CRO-focused rationale (objections handled + purchase psychology) Optional: annotated implementation guidance (if you offer it) What “Great Fit” Looks Like You’ve designed ecommerce experiences where the user journey goes: intent arrives → skepticism rises → trust is built fast → objections are handled → purchase becomes the obvious next step You can clearly explain your approach to mattress-specific decision-making and how you design to match the psychology of high-intent buyers. Questions for Applicants (Please Answer in Your Proposal) What ecommerce niches have you designed most? (Mattress or premium home/wellness preferred.) Describe a project where you improved conversion or reduced purchase hesitation for high-ticket DTC ecommerce: what did you change? what buyer psychology assumptions guided the changes? any measurable results? How do you design pages to match ad-driven buyer psychology rather than generic ecommerce UX? If you reviewed www.cottonsleep.com, what are your top 3 priorities to improve first? What is your process and timeline to deliver designs? Please Include With Your Proposal Portfolio links (prefer PDPs + conversion-focused redesigns) Any measurable before/after or metrics (if available) Your proposed rate and how you charge: milestone/fixed scope and/or hourly . We prefer a proposed fixed. Similar Brands In Same Niche: Saatva, Avocado, Plush Beds, Naturepedic, Ethical Mattress, MyGreenMattress, Happsy, SweetZZZ Honey Hybrid Mattress, Awara
