Electrical Engineer for Circuit Board Development

We are looking for an experienced embedded PCB design engineer to help design a dual-board door access control system. The system includes a primary controller board with PoE, Ethernet, MCU control, USB service access, RS485 communication, lock-control circuitry, and field I/O. A remote scanner board will interface with an RS232 barcode scanner, receive field power from the controller board, provide local power regulation, and include its own MCU for local logic and board-to-board synchronization. The two boards will communicate over RS485 using packetized data so relay/lock-control states, I/O events, scanner data, diagnostics, and firmware-update commands can be shared between boards. The controller board should also be able to update the scanner board firmware over RS485 since only the controller board has network/PoE connectivity. We also need the design to include strong field-wiring protection, including reverse-power protection, overcurrent protection, ESD/transient protection, and backfeed prevention. Protection should be included on the scanner board and on the non-PoE RJ45/field connectors on the controller board. Deliverables should include schematic design, PCB layout, BOM, manufacturing files, and prototype bring-up recommendations.
