Embedded Engineer — IoT Camera Device (Raspberry Pi POC)

I'm building a premium connected pet-hardware product with an integrated camera/audio/sensor module and a small mechanical actuator. I'm hiring an embedded engineer to build the complete proof-of-concept software stack on Raspberry Pi hardware (parts on hand). You can start immediately — the stack develops on a bench, no enclosure required yet. Scope: Pi image + camera streaming — WebRTC live view to phone, IR night vision Two-way audio (mic HAT capture + speaker playback in-stream) Sensor service: environmental sensors → cloud backend (Supabase), realtime + push notifications Alert/event engine (the core): audio-event detection, motion detection, threshold-based environmental alerts, per-type cooldowns, short pre/post clip capture Small actuator control: motor indexing, stall detection/retry, position confirmation sensor, audio cue Debug/tuning dashboard (local web page: live sensor values + trigger log) Light support during a 2–3 week live tuning trial One binding architecture requirement: all detection/control logic written against a hardware abstraction layer — no Pi-specific calls in business logic (this ports to production hardware later). Acceptance: logic runs against mocked interfaces in a test harness. You're a fit if you have: -Strong Python on embedded Linux, real GPIO/I2C device work (not just tutorials) -Camera streaming experience -WebRTC or RTSP on constrained hardware -Comfort with audio DSP basics (band energy, thresholds — no ML needed for v1) -Clean architecture habits (you'll be tested on the HAL requirement) -Bonus: Supabase/Firebase, mobile push pipelines, motor control, embedded camera SoCs (Ingenic/SigmaStar) How to apply: Link one project involving camera streaming or real-time sensor processing on embedded hardware, and describe in 3–4 sentences how you'd structure a hardware abstraction layer for a device like this.
