Worldwide
Position Overview We are seeking a meticulous, tech-savvy, and experienced Senior Accountant & Systems Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be the architect of our financial ecosystem. You will be responsible for the initial, proper setup of our accounting software, managing day-to-day accounting functions, tracking complex Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and delivering accurate financial reports and statements. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who loves organizing financial data, understands inventory/cost accounting deeply, and knows how to configure accounting systems to run like clockwork. Key Responsibilities 1. Accounting System Setup & Optimization Evaluate, select (if not already chosen), and properly configure our accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) from scratch. Establish a robust, customized Chart of Accounts tailored to our specific industry. Integrate necessary third-party applications (bank feeds, payroll, e-commerce platforms, invoicing tools). Document system workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for financial data entry. 2. Cost Accounting & COGS Management Accurately calculate, track, and manage Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and inventory valuation. Establish accurate product costing models, factoring in direct materials, direct labor, and overhead allocations. Analyze variances between standard costs and actual costs to identify inefficiencies and improve profit margins. 3. Financial Reporting & Statements Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement/P&L, and Cash Flow Statement). Conduct month-end and year-end close processes efficiently and accurately. Provide management with actionable financial insights, variance analysis, and budget-to-actual reports. 4. General Accounting & Compliance Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger reconciliations. Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and comply with GAAP or IFRS standards. Oversee tax compliance, sales tax filing, and prepare documentation for external auditors or tax preparers. Required Skills & Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certification: CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification is a major plus. Experience: 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record of setting up accounting systems from the ground up. Cost Accounting Expertise: Solid understanding of inventory management and COGS calculations. Technical Tech-Stack Savvy: Advanced proficiency in modern accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or ERPs like NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables). Attention to Detail: An eagle eye for discrepancies and a passion for data integrity.
