FOIA Specialist for CRIME Youtube Channel

We are a high-quality True CRIME Youtube channel seeking a proactive FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) Specialist and Investigative Researcher. We don't just want a "form-filler"; we need a results-driven professional who knows how to navigate the U.S. legal system to secure original bodycam footage, interrogation videos, and crime scene assets. Workflow & Responsibilities: Your work will consist of two primary workflows: Assigned Requests: I will provide you with a YouTube link or a specific case idea. You will identify the correct arresting agency (City PD, County Sheriff, etc.) and file the necessary requests. Proactive Research: You will independently research "Cold Cases" or recent arrests based on specific criteria (e.g., "Older suspects 50+ arrested for 30-year-old murders via DNA evidence"). You will present a list of articles/cases, and I will select which ones to pursue for a FOIA request. Key Requirements: Agency Identification: Expert ability to track down the "Arresting Agency" using only names, news articles, or court dockets. FOIA & PIO Outreach: Filing requests via portals (NextRequest, GovQA) and directly contacting Public Information Officers (PIOs). Phone Follow-ups (CRITICAL): You must be comfortable calling Police Departments to check the status of requests. Proactive calling is a major plus as it speeds up the process significantly (often by 500%) and ensures our requests don't sit at the bottom of a pile. Asset Delivery: Managing the delivery of raw, high-quality video files via Dropbox or Google Drive. Skills Needed: In-depth knowledge of U.S. Public Records laws. Strong verbal communication skills for phone inquiries. Experience in investigative journalism or True Crime content creation.
