Summary

Position Summary The Finance, Incentives & Offtake Associate is responsible for driving the commercial, incentive, revenue, underwriting, and capital-readiness workstreams required to advance solar and solar-plus-storage projects from development through financial close and Notice to Proceed (NTP). This role owns finance-related open items across sponsor equity, debt, tax equity, investor diligence, lender diligence, offtake, incentives, revenue assumptions, capital stack inputs, financial model support, and data room readiness. The Associate helps ensure that each project reaches NTP with credible economics, organized diligence materials, documented assumptions, and financeable commercial structures. Reports To Asset Development Manager Core Mandate Drive commercial, incentive, offtake, and capital-readiness open items to closure so projects reach NTP with credible, financeable, and diligence-ready economics. Primary Responsibilities 1. Incentives & Program Compliance • Coordinate incentive application support, including state incentive programs, tax credit eligibility support, energy community, domestic content, low-income, community solar, brownfield, landfill, or other project-specific incentive inputs where applicable. • Track program requirements, deadlines, documentation, milestone obligations, compliance conditions, qualification assumptions, and post-award reporting needs. • Coordinate with permitting, engineering, interconnection, legal, and development workstreams to preserve incentive eligibility and avoid preventable disqualification risk. • Maintain organized records of incentive filings, approvals, agency correspondence, award assumptions, program guidance, required exhibits, and unresolved compliance items. 2. Offtake & Revenue Support • Support PPA, community solar, net metering, AOBC, municipal offtake, virtual net crediting, subscriber, or other revenue contracting workstreams as applicable to each project. • Maintain commercial trackers for offtake counterparties, pricing, term, discount structure, crediting assumptions, contract status, open comments, required exhibits, and execution milestones. • Organize supporting materials used in revenue underwriting, customer proposals, offtake negotiations, lender diligence, investor diligence, and internal approval discussions. • Track changes to revenue assumptions, rate schedules, avoided-cost inputs, escalation assumptions, subscriber mix, customer discounts, contracted volumes, and other items that may affect project economics. 3. Financial Modeling & Capital Stack Support • Support project-level Excel financial modeling by maintaining organized model inputs, assumptions logs, version comparisons, source documents, and change summaries. • Assist with basic capital stack modeling and tracking, including sponsor equity, development equity, construction debt, term debt, tax equity, grant proceeds, incentive proceeds, reserves, fees, and other funding sources or uses. • Update and review model input tabs, sources-and-uses schedules, draw schedules, capital account assumptions, debt sizing inputs, DSCR outputs, tax credit assumptions, revenue assumptions, O&M assumptions, and closing-cost inputs under direction of the Asset Development Manager or finance lead. • Identify inconsistencies between the financial model, development budget, EPC pricing, lender terms, investor assumptions, tax equity structure, offtake pricing, and diligence materials. • Maintain disciplined Excel habits, including clear formulas, source-linked assumptions, version control, error checks, clean formatting, and ability to explain what changed between model versions. 4. Lender, Investor & Tax Equity Diligence Support • Coordinate lender, investor, buyer, tax equity, and Independent Engineer diligence requests related to project economics, capital structure, offtake, incentives, budget, insurance, legal documentation, and closing conditions. • Maintain diligence trackers identifying request, owner, due date, dependency, next action, status, document location, and escalation path. • Collect, organize, and transmit financial models, project budgets, EPC cost support, revenue documentation, incentive materials, offtake materials, insurance inputs, entity documents, closing checklists, and transaction support materials. • Support responses to diligence questions by coordinating input from development, engineering, legal, accounting, tax, insurance, EPC, and external advisor workstreams. 5. Financial Close & NTP Readiness • Track financial close and NTP dependencies, including model finalization, lender requirements, investor conditions, legal documentation, signatures, insurance deliverables, sponsor equity evidence, funding mechanics, and closing deliverables. • Coordinate data room readiness so commercial, financial, incentive, offtake, legal, and diligence materials are complete, current, clearly named, and easy for external parties to review. • Prepare closing-readiness summaries that identify open commercial items, unresolved diligence questions, required approvals, missing documents, and risks to timing or financeability. • Track development contingencies requiring resolution prior to NTP, including cost updates, design changes with model impact, permitting conditions, interconnection assumptions, offtake items, and lender/investor conditions. 6. Commercial Documentation & Risk Tracking • Maintain organized records for incentives, offtake, revenue assumptions, financial models, diligence requests, capital stack assumptions, underwriting materials, commercial status, and transaction documents. • Coordinate internal follow-up on open financeability items, missing assumptions, unresolved diligence requests, model inconsistencies, revenue gaps, incentive risks, and closing conditions. • Escalate material issues affecting project bankability, capital structure, tax credit value, debt sizing, sponsor equity requirements, offtake readiness, incentive eligibility, or closing schedule. • Help ensure that commercial assumptions used in presentations, models, lender materials, investor materials, and internal trackers remain consistent and current. Authority • Coordinate commercial deliverables, diligence materials, financial-model inputs, document requests, and status updates with internal teams and external counterparties. • Maintain and manage commercial trackers, diligence logs, data room workflows, financial model input logs, capital stack trackers, offtake trackers, incentive records, and closing-readiness materials. • Request information, documents, model inputs, budget updates, revenue assumptions, incentive support, insurance materials, and diligence responses from consultants, lenders, investors, EPCs, attorneys, tax advisors, accountants, insurers, offtake counterparties, and project partners. • Escalate binding commercial decisions, material model changes, unresolved diligence issues, financing risks, tax equity issues, sponsor equity requirements, budget impacts, revenue gaps, and incentive or contracting risks to the Asset Development Manager. Qualifications (Preferred) • 2+ years in renewable energy finance, development finance, project finance support, incentives administration, transaction support, asset underwriting, investment analysis, or comparable commercial coordination role. • Fundamental Excel modeling skills, including ability to work with project-level financial models, capital stack schedules, sources-and-uses tables, draw schedules, model assumptions, formulas, and version comparisons. • Working knowledge of renewable energy capital structures, including sponsor equity, construction debt, term debt, tax equity, grants, incentives, reserves, and project-level cash flow assumptions. • Familiarity with incentive programs, offtake structures, revenue underwriting, lender diligence, investor diligence, and financial close preparation. • Ability to read and coordinate commercial materials, including financial models, budgets, PPA/offtake summaries, incentive documents, diligence requests, closing checklists, and transaction support materials. • Strong organizational discipline, follow-up habits, document control, and comfort managing multiple external parties without losing open finance or diligence items. • Comfort operating in a fast-moving development environment where technical, commercial, legal, permitting, tax, and financing requirements overlap. Success Metrics • Incentive deadlines, compliance items, and qualification assumptions are tracked without lapse. • Financial model inputs, capital stack assumptions, sources-and-uses schedules, and model versions remain organized, current, and explainable. • Data rooms, diligence trackers, closing deliverables, and transaction support materials are complete, current, and easy for external parties to review. • Revenue and offtake support materials are organized, decision-ready, and consistent with underwriting assumptions. • Lender, investor, tax equity, and commercial diligence requests are tracked, assigned, followed up, and closed without preventable delay. • Projects reach financial close and NTP preparation with no avoidable commercial documentation gaps, model-input confusion, or unresolved financeability items.
