Finance Manager – Accounting & Controller (QuickBooks Specialist)

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee the full spectrum of accounting, controlling, and financial management functions for Onway Logistics and Ship Car 24 Inc., a car shipping broker and carrier operating under the same owner and founder. This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary full-time remote role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, and the ability to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient financial operations, and strong internal financial control across both entities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial integrity across both companies, ensuring consistency in reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate and timely financial insights. Key Responsibilities 1) Accounting & Bookkeeping - Manage full-cycle accounting operations using QuickBooks Desktop - Accurately record and maintain financial transactions across all accounts - Set up and maintain the fixed asset register, including adding new assets and tracking disposals - Calculate and post depreciation entries in line with accounting standards - Ensure accurate allocation of expenses and revenues across appropriate accounts and cost centers - Move funds between accounts and process payments for employees and contractors 2) Financial Control & Management - Act as internal financial controller, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial data - Reconcile accounts regularly and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner - Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial performance indicators - Strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes where needed 3) Financial Reporting - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) - Provide management reports with clear insights on financial performance - Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis - Present financial data in a clear and actionable format for leadership decision-making - Ability to process timesheets and process payrolls, process 1099s and W2s contracts. 4) Systems & Process Improvement - Optimize use of QuickBooks Desktop for reporting, tracking, and financial accuracy - Improve accounting workflows and ensure consistency in financial data handling - Support audits and liaise with external accountants or auditors when required Requirements - Proven experience in accounting, controlling, and financial management roles - Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop - Strong knowledge of fixed assets, depreciation, and financial reporting standards - Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements - High attention to detail and strong analytical skills - Ability to work independently in a multi-responsibility role - Ability to work independently while aligning with Pacific - Standard Time (PST) working hours (08:00 - 16:00 PST) What We Offer - Full ownership finance role across two companies - Remote full-time work with PST-aligned schedule - High autonomy and direct business impact - Opportunity to improve and shape financial processes - Long-term, stable collaboration
