Finance and Operations Associate (maternity leave coverage at fast-paced, legal tech company)

About the Role Juristat is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance & Operations Associate to provide maternity leave coverage for our Finance team. This is a temporary, hands-on role supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, HR administration, and a broad range of operational tasks in a fast-paced, early-stage legal tech environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, communicating across teams, and managing multiple recurring responsibilities with precision and accountability. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable Process and code incoming vendor invoices in QuickBooks Online Execute semi-monthly payment runs and manage ACH disbursements Monitor the finance inbox and triage vendor and agency correspondence Accounts Receivable Apply and reconcile incoming customer payments Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances in coordination with Customer Success Respond to customer billing inquiries Set up new customer accounts and issue invoices as needed Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Support the monthly close process, including gathering and uploading bank statements and deliverables Calculate monthly sales commissions and submit for payroll processing Prepare monthly usage reports and calculate expansion and contraction metrics Issue customer overage invoices at month end Review financial statements for accuracy and prepare segment-level financials Ongoing Reporting & Analysis Maintain weekly management metrics and KPI reporting Update weekly cash flow forecasts Prepare quarterly compliance packages for banking partners HR & People Operations Prepare and coordinate monthly company all-hands presentation Assist with HR administration including payroll processing, employee changes, and benefits coordination General Operations & Other Manage incoming mail and route to appropriate teams Assist with annual tax preparation and year-end financial review in coordination with external accountants Qualifications Required Background/education in accounting and/or finance Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets Solid understanding of basic financial reporting (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) Basic understanding of financial analysis concepts (ARR, margins, variance analysis) Strong attention to detail and ability to manage recurring deadlines independently Preferred Experience at a SaaS or technology company Familiarity with Maxio (or similar subscription billing platforms) Experience with HubSpot and Rippling Experience supporting HR and payroll administration Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team environment About Juristat Juristat is a legal technology company that provides AI-powered patent prosecution analytics and workflow tools to patent attorneys, law firms, and in-house IP teams across the country.
