Fire Protection Designer — 3 High-Rise Towers, Long-Term

Posted last week

Worldwide

Summary

We are Artificial Modelling.. We're delivering fire protection design for three high-rise towers for a US-based investor — two towers of 30 storeys and one of 50. US codes, reviewed by the local AHJ. We're not looking to buy a one-off drawing package. We're looking for one person to join our delivery team and stay with us across all three buildings. ── WHY THIS IS WORTH YOUR TIME ── - A fixed monthly retainer, paid weekly, whether or not a given week is busy. No feast and famine - Three towers, 6+ months, and more work behind them. Two of the towers are near-identical, so what you solve once you apply twice - One point of contact on our side. No layers, no chasing approvals - If it works, this becomes a standing arrangement ── WHAT YOU'D BE DOING ── - Sprinkler design per NFPA 13 — typical floors, then the exceptions - Standpipe zoning per NFPA 14: zone breaks, pressure-reducing valves, express risers, holding 100 psi at the topmost hose connection without overpressuring the base of each zone - Fire pump arrangement per NFPA 20 — series or parallel, pump rooms, intermediate tanks - Hydraulic calculations, node by node, that you can defend on a call - Coordinating your model with the other trades - Working with us through AHJ plan review comments - Working to technical submittals and following manufacturer's specs. - Working in Revit, Navisworks & AutoCAD You would be supporting our delivery MEP, taking full responsibility on the fire protection aspect. We review everything with you, and a locally licensed PE handles the sealed submittal. ── WHAT YOU NEED ── - A tower you actually designed. Tell us the building, its height, and who reviewed it. Gulf high-rise experience — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh — counts fully here, and we'd like to hear about it - NFPA 13, 14 and 20. Especially 14 — pressure zoning is the heart of this job - AutoSPRINK or Revit. We need native working files, not PDFs - Spoken English good enough for live calls. We talk, we don't only email - Individual freelancer. We're not looking for an agency to subcontract this - Experience not less than 7 years of documented experience in Revit working with Fire Protection Systems - Experience not less than 5 years in navisworks - Minimum of 1 year of site based experience. - Your own laptop able to run hefty models. We operate on Ryzen 7, with 64GB ram & RTX 4060 to run things smoothly. ── NICE TO HAVE ── - NICET Level II or higher, or a US PE with the Fire Protection exam - NFPA 72 with voice evacuation, IBC Chapter 4 high-rise provisions - Stairwell pressurisation and smoke control, NFPA 92 / IBC 909 - FM Global Data Sheets - Your own AEC Suite + BIM Collaborate Pro Licenses ── HOW TO APPLY ── Please skip the template. Proposals opening with "I am the perfect fit for your project" get archived unread. Start your proposal with the word STANDPIPE so we know you read this. Then, briefly: 1. The tallest building you have designed fire protection for. Height, use, city, and who reviewed the drawings. 2. How you decided where the standpipe zone breaks fell on that building. 3. Which software you use, and confirm you can hand over native files. 4. How many hours a week you can genuinely commit, and your rate. Attach one sheet or riser diagram from a real project. Redact the client name if you need to. In response, we'll send you one drawing and ask you what's wrong with it. Only if you know, you'll know. ── TERMS ── Monthly retainer, paid weekly through Upwork, [TBC based on exp $$$]/month for approximately [40-60] hours a week. First month is a paid trial for both of us — same money, shorter commitment. If it works we continue across all three towers and review the arrangement every quarter.
