Freelance Expert — IFRS S1 & S2 / ESG Disclosure Reviewer (QCB Projects) Assignment Type: Project-based freelance contract (review engagement) Experience Required: 3–5 years minimum Location: Qatar preferred; GCC / remote considered Rate: To be discussed About the Assignment- Our organization is an ESG consulting and advisory firm operating across the UAE, Qatar, the Netherlands, and India. We are currently delivering a major ESG and IFRS implementation engagement for Qatar-based clients. The project involves implementation of IFRS S1 and S2 (ISSB sustainability disclosure standards), alignment with QCB (Qatar Central Bank) ESG Supervisory Principles, and preparation of a comprehensive ESG report aligned with QSE disclosure requirements and GRI Standards. Our delivery team will prepare the primary drafts across all workstreams. We are now looking for a qualified independent expert to act as a technical reviewer — assessing the quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of our prepared deliverables before they are finalised and presented to the client. This is a review and quality assurance role, assisting in implementation work. What You Will Do IFRS S1 & S2 Disclosure Review - -Review prepared IFRS S1 and S2 disclosure content across the four core pillars — Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Metrics & Targets — for alignment with ISSB standards -Assess whether disclosures are complete, technically accurate, and appropriately structured for an insurance-sector client -Identify gaps, weak disclosures, or areas where the standard's requirements have not been fully addressed - Flag any inconsistencies between IFRS S1 and S2 disclosures and the broader ESG report narrative QCB Supervisory Principles Review - -Review ESG deliverables for alignment with QCB ESG Supervisory Principles and their phased implementation timeline through 2026 -Assess whether the prepared content adequately addresses QCB's requirements across governance, risk management, internal controls, solvency, underwriting, investments, and market conduct -Identify compliance gaps or areas requiring strengthening before client submission ESG Report & Materiality Review - - -Review the ESG materiality assessment for rigour and alignment with IFRS S1 & S2 and GRI 2021 double materiality requirements -Assess ESG KPI definitions, data quality, and disclosure completeness across Environmental, Social, and Governance pillars -Review the overall ESG/Sustainability Report for technical accuracy, regulatory alignment, and disclosure quality -Provide structured written feedback with specific, actionable comments — section by section Deliverable A structured review document covering: -Section-by-section commentary across IFRS S1 & S2 disclosures and QCB alignment -A clear status flag for each section (e.g., Compliant / Needs Revision / Gap Identified) -Prioritised list of revisions required before client submission -Any high-level recommendations on disclosure quality, consistency, or presentation Who We Are Looking For Must-have: - -3–5 years of hands-on experience in IFRS reporting, ESG advisory, or sustainability disclosure — with direct, practical exposure to IFRS S1 and/or IFRS S2 -Strong working knowledge of ISSB sustainability disclosure standards and their application to corporate and regulated-entity reporting - - - - -Demonstrated experience reviewing or auditing ESG and climate-related disclosures — not just preparing them -Familiarity with QCB ESG Supervisory Principles or equivalent central bank / financial regulator ESG frameworks in the GCC -Ability to provide technically precise, specific feedback — not generic observations -Excellent written English; Arabic is an advantage Preferred: - -Prior experience in or exposure to the insurance or financial services sector in Qatar or the GCC -Knowledge of GRI Standards (2021), TCFD, and QSE ESG reporting guidelines -Experience reviewing disclosures for regulated entities (insurers, listed companies, banks) -Familiarity with ORSA, underwriting ESG integration, or insurance-specific climate risk frameworks -Certifications in sustainability or ESG (GRI, SASB, CDP, CFA ESG, or equivalent) Key Technical Areas — At a Glance Domain - Relevance 1.IFRS S1 & S2 (ISSB) - Core — primary framework under review 2.QCB ESG Supervisory Principles - Required — regulatory alignment for Qatar insurance sector 3.GRI Standards 2021 - Required — ESG report structure and double materiality 4.TCFD - Strong foundation — embedded within IFRS S2 5.QSE ESG Disclosure Standards - Required — Qatar Stock Exchange reporting alignment 6.ESG Materiality Assessment - Required — review of methodology and output 7.Climate Risk (physical & transition) Required — scenario analysis and risk disclosure review 8.Insurance sector ESG - Preferred — underwriting, investments, solvency context 9.GHG Protocol / Emissions Accounting Preferred — Scope 1, 2, 3 disclosure review Engagement Details Detail - Specification Engagement type - Fixed-scope freelance review contract Format - Remote, asynchronous Deliverable format - Structured Word document or PDF with tracked comments Location - Qatar preferred; remote (GCC/global) considered Rate - Open — please state your rate (daily or hourly) in your proposal How to Apply Please share: 1.
