Freelance Web Designer — Small Business Brand Websites (5 Clients)

About this project We're working with the Washtenaw County College(WCC) to help elevate small businesses in our local community. As part of an ongoing branding initiative, we've completed logo development and brand identity work for five small business clients — and we're now ready to bring those brands to life online. We're looking for a skilled web designer who can build or redesign websites for all five clients, ensuring each one authentically reflects the brand work we've developed. The sites should be professional, mobile-friendly, and easy for small business owners to maintain after launch. Scope of work Design and develop websites for 5 small business clients (scope per site to be discussed) Implement approved branding, logos, and color palettes provided by our team Ensure each site is responsive and mobile-optimized Integrate basic on-page SEO best practices Set up contact forms, social links, and any client-specific features (e.g., menus, booking, portfolio) Deliver each site with a brief handoff walkthrough so owners can make simple updates What we'll provide Completed brand identities: logos, color palettes, typography guidelines Business information, copy, and photography/imagery per client Clear communication and a designated point of contact throughout the project Ideal candidate Proven portfolio of small business or service-based websites Proficient in WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, or similar (please specify your preferred platform) Strong eye for translating brand identity into cohesive web design Comfortable managing multiple client projects simultaneously Clear communicator with experience working with non-technical clients Bonus: familiarity with local community or nonprofit-adjacent work In your proposal, please include 2–3 examples of small business websites you've designed Your preferred platform(s) and why Your estimated timeline for completing all five sites Your proposed approach — will you work on sites sequentially or in parallel?
