General Bookkeeper Needed

US residential construction company seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeper & Admin Assistant to support financial operations and executive administration. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, experience in construction accounting, and the ability to provide direct support to the CFO. Key Responsibilities Accounting and Bookkeeping - Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with US GAAP principles. - Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance. - Oversee invoicing processes, including progress billing and tracking of receivables. - Allocate cost of goods sold appropriately across projects under Job Costing Method, with a strong understanding of construction accounting and progress payments. - Perform bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis. - Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Construction and ERP Systems - Utilize QuickBooks and ERP systems such as NetSuite or SAP for financial management. - Track project-based financials, job costing, and budget-versus-actual reporting. - Coordinate with project managers and internal teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting. - Use Buildertrend or similar construction management software; training will be provided. Payroll and Compliance - Process payroll through ADP and/or Gusto. - Ensure compliance with California payroll regulations and federal payroll reporting requirements. - Maintain payroll records and support audits or reporting related to payroll and labor compliance. Administrative and CFO Support - Provide high-level administrative support to the CFO, including scheduling, document preparation, and follow-up. - Support internal process improvements and implementation of financial systems. Qualifications - Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. - 3 to 7 or more years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in construction, real estate development, or a related industry. - Strong knowledge of US GAAP. - Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and at least one ERP system such as NetSuite, SAP, or a similar platform. - Experience with construction accounting, including progress billing, accounts receivable invoicing, job costing, and cost allocation. - Familiarity with ADP and/or Gusto payroll systems. - Working knowledge of California and US payroll compliance and reporting requirements. - Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and directly support executive leadership.
