Graphic Designer for Printed Journal

Print Book Designer — Printed Planner/Journal Interior Layout and Cover Design I am creating a journal/planner for mahjong players and I am looking for a designer who specializes in print layout and book interior design. **THE PROJECT** Mahjong Journal — a themed journal/planner for women 45-60. Copy deck is complete and ready to go. I need a designer to bring it to life for print. - A5 hardcover case-bound format - Approximately 224 pages plus cover - Mix of tracker pages, infographics, section dividers, full page illustrations, and lined writing pages - Clean and playful design — designer to suggest 3 palettes and font pairings - Target start date: week of July 27th --- **WHAT I NEED** - Suggested palette and font pairing - Original artwork and illustration — no stock clipart - If you use stock assets you must disclose upfront and provide licensing documentation - Print-ready PDF files meeting commercial printer specifications - All working files in editable format upon completion - All fonts and assets packaged and documented • Layout design for repeated pages (daily, weekly, reflection or similar) • Layout for introduction section including an infographic • Ability to make revisions based on feedback --- **REQUIRED SKILLS** - Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator — required - Print production and preflight — required - Book or journal interior layout — required - Infographic design — required - Ability to create a vision for the product that matches the audience --- **YOU ARE THE RIGHT FIT IF** - You have designed physical books or journals before — not web graphics, digital magazines, or social media - You understand case-bound book specifications and can prepare print-ready files - You create or can source original illustration — not stock - You read a brief carefully and ask good questions --- **THE TRIAL PROJECT** Before awarding the full contract I will ask my top candidate to complete a paid trial for a flat fee of $100. You will design a 2-page sample spread and a stand alone page using the style notes I provide. Deliverables due within 2 business days. If we move forward, trial pages are incorporated into the final project. --- **YOUR PROPOSAL SHOULD INCLUDE** - Relevant portfolio samples — journal or book interiors and book covers - Brief description of your print book experience - How you handle original illustration - Your availability to start the week of July 27th PRICING - I will ask for a flat rate quote for the entire project if you make it through the project trial phase. --- To show you read this posting please include the phrase “I read the brief” at the top of your proposal.
