Head of Operations & Supply Chain

Summary

About the role We're a fast-growing supplement brand, and we're looking for one person to own our entire operations and supply chain engine end-to-end. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely strategic one. You'll set the direction for how we plan, source, produce, and ship our products and you'll be in the forecasting models and inventory reports yourself every week. You'll be the connective tissue between sourcing, production, logistics, and product development — making sure we never stock out of a hero SKU, never over-order slow movers, and always have new products moving smoothly from idea to shelf. If you like owning a function from the 30,000-foot strategy down to the line-item reorder point, this is for you. What you'll own Inventory & forecasting (the hands-on core) Manage inventory across all SKUs and channels, keeping stock at healthy levels — no costly stockouts, no cash trapped in dead stock. Build and maintain demand forecasts using sales velocity, seasonality, promotions, and lead times. Run weekly stock planning: reorder points, safety stock, purchase timing, and allocation across warehouses/3PLs. Track and report on key inventory metrics (sell-through, weeks of cover, fill rate, inventory turns, aging stock). Supply chain & procurement Own procurement end-to-end: forecasting → purchase orders → delivery → reconciliation. Manage supplier and factory relationships alongside [Sourcing Manager], coordinating pricing, MOQs, lead times, and production schedules. Plan production runs to match demand, balancing cost, cash flow, and availability. Logistics & fulfillment Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, freight, customs, and 3PL/warehouse performance. Identify and fix bottlenecks; continuously improve cost, speed, and reliability of the supply chain. Product development & SKU management Help bring new SKUs to market — coordinating sourcing, formulation, and compliance inputs from the broader team. Maintain a clean SKU catalog: rationalize underperformers, manage variants, and keep product data accurate. Leadership Build and improve the systems, dashboards, and processes that run operations. As the team grows, hire and develop the supply chain / inventory function under you. What you'll bring Must-haves [3–6]+ years in operations, supply chain, or inventory/demand planning — ideally in a physical-product, e-commerce, or CPG business. Strong, demonstrated inventory forecasting and stock planning skills. You're genuinely comfortable in spreadsheets and inventory tools, not just managing people who do it. Track record managing suppliers, purchase orders, and production timelines. Experience working with a subscription brand — you understand how recurring orders, churn, and rebill cycles affect demand forecasting and inventory planning. Sharp analytical brain: you make decisions from data and can defend a reorder quantity with numbers. Highly organized and proactive — you spot a looming stockout weeks before it happens. Comfortable being both the strategist and the do-er in a lean team. Nice-to-haves Experience in supplements or other regulated/perishable categories (familiarity with supplement compliance, formulations, or GMP manufacturing is a plus). Familiarity with [inventory/ERP system — e.g. Cin7, NetSuite, Inventory Planner, Shopify]. Experience standing up forecasting or inventory processes from scratch. Exposure to importing/freight, customs, or international manufacturing. What success looks like First 90 days Fully understand current SKUs, suppliers, lead times, and stock positions. Take ownership of the forecasting and reorder process; no surprise stockouts on your watch. First 6–12 months Reliable, data-backed forecasts driving every purchase order. Improved inventory turns and reduced dead/aging stock without sacrificing availability. Smoother, faster supplier and production cycles. Clean dashboards giving the team real-time visibility into stock health.
