History Researcher for Animated History YouTube Channel (Ongoing)

We run an animated history YouTube channel (deadpan humor, OverSimplified style) and we're looking for a history researcher to work with us on an ongoing basis, roughly two episodes a month. What the role is: You research a historical topic and deliver a clear, well-organized document of accurate, verified facts that our scriptwriter then turns into an episode. You are the foundation of each video: the history has to be right, and it has to be interesting. Our format covers entire periods, wars, or events from start to finish, "The Entire History of..." style. So your research needs to tell the complete story end to end: the causes, the key events in order, the turning points, and the outcome. Not isolated facts, but the full arc a writer can build a 20-minute narrative from. Example topics we'll cover: Ancient Egypt, Medieval Europe, the history of the USA, WW1, WW2, the British Empire, the Vietnam War, major battles and wars, and so on. Broad periods synthesized clearly from beginning to end. What we need from you: - Solid, accurate research from reliable sources (not just a Wikipedia summary) - Full coverage of the topic start to finish, structured as a clear narrative arc - Sources cited, so we can verify and stand behind our facts - Good judgment for what's actually interesting: the surprising details, the turning points, the moments that make a story worth telling. We don't just want a dry list of dates, we want the good stuff flagged. - Clear organization (chronological) so a writer can build the episode straight from your document What the role is NOT: You are not writing the script or the jokes. That's a separate role. You provide the raw historical material, someone else makes it funny. You don't need to be an academic, but you do need to genuinely care about history and getting it right.
