Summary

Strategy & Implementation Plan for Google Analytics 4 1. GA4 Account Audit & Setup (Website + PUBLITAS Flipbook) Account Audit: Verify the existing GA4 property configuration, ensuring the Measurement ID is correct, Data Streams are active, and Enhanced Measurement (clicks, scrolls, outbound links) is enabled. Cross-Domain Tracking: Configure cross-domain measurement between my main website domain and the Publitas hosting domain (`*.publitas.com`) to maintain a single user session as visitors navigate from my site to the magazine. Publitas Integration: Implement the GA4 tracking ID directly inside the Publitas dashboard settings to capture page views, publication opens, and internal reader interactions within the flipbook. 2. Internal Banner Tracking & Traffic Attribution Tracking Methodology: Utilize GA4 **Custom Events (`select_promotion` or a custom `banner_click` event) triggered via Google Tag Manager (GTM). When a user clicks a banner, the event will capture parameters like `creative_name` (e.g., "sidebar_banner") and `promotion_location` (e.g., "homepage"). Preserving Attribution: Internal Link Click-Throughs: Ensure internal banners do **not** use manual UTM parameters (like `utm_source` or `utm_medium`), as UTMs overwrite the existing session source and break attribution. GA4 Integration: By using GTM event listeners instead of URL parameters, the original acquisition source (e.g., Google Organic, Meta Ads) remains entirely untouched. 3. Comparing Banner Engagement (Sidebar vs. Home Top Banner) Event Comparison: Analyze performance in GA4 by comparing the event counts for `banner_click` filtered by the respective `promotion_location` parameters (`sidebar` vs. `home_top`). Reporting Dashboard:** Create an Exploration report or Looker Studio dashboard to visualize clicks side-by-side, allowing you to directly determine which placement drives higher user interaction.
