Independent Review of Experimental Measurement Instrument

Summary

I am looking to hire an experienced experimental physicist, instrumentation engineer, scientific instrument specialist, optics researcher, quantum sensing researcher, or related field expert to review a prototype experimental measurement instrument and provide general technical feedback. The current documentation consists of approximately 40–50 pages, but the underlying project is relatively simple. The instrument is built around roughly five core design concepts, and the testing plan is based on approximately four core validation principles. At this stage, I am not looking for detailed engineering work, mathematical modeling, redesigns, simulations, or extensive analysis. I am primarily looking for an experienced reviewer who can evaluate the project at a high level and provide independent feedback. What I Need I would like feedback on questions such as: Does the instrument concept appear internally coherent? Are the proposed measurements reasonable? Are the testing principles sound? Are there obvious weaknesses or blind spots? Are important controls missing? What would concern you most if you were evaluating this project? What would you improve before prototype testing? The goal is to obtain a broad technical assessment rather than a detailed engineering review. Ideal Background Applicants may come from fields such as: Experimental Physics Applied Physics Instrumentation Engineering Scientific Instrumentation Optical Instrumentation Photonics Quantum Sensing Precision Measurement Metrology Sensor Development Electromagnetic Measurement Systems Scientific Field Instrumentation Applicants should have experience evaluating, reviewing, designing, or developing scientific instruments and measurement systems, rather than solely operating existing equipment. Budget Budget: $300 fixed-price for an initial high-level review and written assessment. The purpose of this first engagement is to obtain broad technical feedback on the design and testing approach. Additional consulting opportunities may be available as the instrument evolves and future technical questions arise.
