Integrated MEP and Energy Design for 4,800 SF Home

We are building a custom residence of approximately 4,800 square feet in California and are seeking an experienced MEP engineer or residential building systems designer to develop a complete Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Energy Design package. The home will utilize a geothermal heat pump system for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water. We are looking for an integrated design that prioritizes comfort, energy efficiency, reliability, future expansion, low operating cost, and low noise levels. ## Scope of Work ### Mechanical (HVAC) Design a high-efficiency geothermal HVAC system including: • Heating and cooling load calculations • Equipment sizing and selection recommendations • Geothermal heat pump system design and integration • Coordination with geothermal loop-field designer and installer • Ductwork sizing and routing • Supply and return air layout • Multi-zone design and control strategy • Airflow balancing recommendations • Ventilation and fresh air strategy • Floor-by-floor HVAC layouts • Noise reduction and comfort optimization • Domestic hot water integration with geothermal system ### Electrical Design a complete residential electrical system including: • 400A electrical service design • Load calculations • Main panel and subpanel layouts • Panel schedules • Electrical one-line diagrams • Lighting layout and fixture planning • Lighting control and switching design (single-pole, 3-way, 4-way, dimmers, occupancy sensors, etc.) • Receptacle and branch circuit layout • Dedicated circuits for major appliances and equipment • Structured wiring and low-voltage planning (network, security, cameras, audio, smart home systems) • Exterior lighting design • Landscape lighting design • Photometric plan and calculations, if required by the jurisdiction • Solar PV integration • Battery storage integration (Tesla Powerwall or equivalent) • EV charging infrastructure • Backup power and transfer/switching strategy • Whole-house surge protection recommendations • Future expansion considerations ### Plumbing Design a complete residential plumbing system including: • Domestic cold and hot water distribution layout • Plumbing riser diagrams • Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) system design • Water heater and hot water recirculation system design • Fixture schedules and plumbing load calculations • Utility connections and equipment coordination • Plumbing layouts coordinated with architectural plans • Water efficiency and system performance recommendations ### Energy & Building Envelope Provide consultation and recommendations for: • Title 24 energy compliance requirements • Title 24 calculations and reports (or coordination with Title 24 consultant) • Building envelope design and optimization • Recommended wall, roof, floor, and slab insulation levels • Attic insulation recommendations (e.g., R-49 vs. R-60) • Window and glazing performance recommendations (U-factor, SHGC, etc.) • Air sealing strategy • Solar sizing recommendations • Battery storage sizing recommendations • Whole-home energy optimization ## Deliverables • HVAC design package • Electrical design package • Plumbing design package • Energy and building envelope recommendations • Heating and cooling load calculations • Electrical load calculations • One-line diagrams • Plumbing riser diagrams • Lighting and switching plans • Power and receptacle plans • Exterior lighting plan • Photometric plan and calculations (if required) • Title 24 documentation and reports (or coordination package) • Design drawings in PDF and editable format • Equipment and system recommendations • Coordination between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, geothermal, and energy systems ## Optional Scope Please provide a separate quote for: • Residential automatic fire sprinkler system design ## Requirements • Experience designing custom residential homes • Experience with geothermal HVAC systems • Experience with solar, battery storage, and EV charging integration • Experience with California Title 24 compliance • Strong understanding of high-performance residential design and building envelopes • Experience preparing permit-ready residential plans preferred ## To Apply Please provide: 1.
