Summary

Interview Story Editor (Descript) | Ongoing Podcast & Customer Story Projects I’m looking for a freelance Interview Story Editor to collaborate with on an ongoing basis. This is not a flashy YouTube editing role. I’m looking for someone with strong storytelling instincts who enjoys shaping authentic conversations into compelling stories. Most projects involve customer interviews, educational content, podcast-style conversations, and customer success stories. My goal is to create polished, engaging videos that feel natural and conversational while preserving the authenticity of the speaker. What You’ll Do You’ll receive a recorded interview (typically 30–70 minutes), along with a transcript and occasionally a few notes. Your role is to: * Remove repetitive thoughts and unnecessary tangents. * Tighten pacing and improve overall flow. * Eliminate sections that don’t move the story forward. * Preserve emotion, personality, and authenticity. * Occasionally suggest a better sequence if it improves the narrative. * Deliver a polished first draft for review. I’m not looking for flashy transitions, heavy motion graphics, or elaborate effects. Strong editorial judgment is far more important than visual effects. Preferred Experience Experience editing any of the following is a plus: * Podcasts * Documentary-style interviews * Educational content * Customer stories * Long-form YouTube interviews Software I primarily work in Descript, so experience with Descript is strongly preferred. To Apply Please include: * A short introduction * Links to 2–3 interview, documentary, podcast, or educational edits you’ve worked on * Whether you’ve used Descript * Your typical hourly or per-project rate * A sentence or two describing how you decide what to cut from an interview I’m looking to build a long-term relationship with the right editor. The ideal person enjoys storytelling and understands that the best edits are often the ones viewers never notice. For this first project, you’ll edit one interview into a polished, story-driven final cut. If it’s a great fit, I anticipate ongoing work throughout the year.
