Investments & Finance Lead: Build an Investment Function from Zero

We're hiring a senior finance professional to build and run the investment and finance function for a founder's group of companies, managing an international real-estate-backed credit portfolio. This is a build role, not an operate role. There is no finance team, no accounting system, no processes. You design and stand up the entire function. The founder knows the territory well (deal structuring, international tax, cross-border transactions) and will share what he knows. He sets vision and strategy; you own everything in between. 💼Phase 1: What you'll deliver ◾Take over, formalize, and monitor the existing portfolio; manage debtors and positions ◾Build monitoring and reporting systems: accounting/ERP selection and setup, chart of accounts, entity-level consolidation, management reporting by vertical ◾Deliver one decision-ready monthly group report: cash, P&L by vertical, AUM and yield, redeployment pipeline, FX exposure ◾Underwriting, risk analysis, structuring, and negotiation support on new deals ◾Deal sourcing in Latin America including recruiting and managing a business developer for cold outreach ◾FX exposure monitoring; counterparty due diligence, AML, and source-of-funds discipline ◾Design the investment committee and delegated-authority framework 💼Phase 2: Full finance (progressively): ◾Banking relationships, treasury and liquidity management, compliance and legal administration across jurisdictions, external accountant/auditor management, and building an operational finance team. ◾The investment context: The portfolio targets double-digit EUR yields through real-estate-backed mezzanine and bridge lending in emerging markets. Part is already deployed, with a specialist partner team handling technical underwriting in that market, they will mentor and coach you. Core forward markets (Brazil, Colombia) are built from zero. 🎯Must-haves ◾Finance-literate: comfortable with underwriting, risk, and structured-credit concepts, or able to absorb them fast under mentorship ◾Deal instinct: a nose for sourcing, structuring, and negotiating. A pure analyst without this will not work ◾Evidence of having built or closed something: a deal sourced/structured/closed, or a function stood up from zero. ◾Self-starting, decisive, operates in ambiguity, tells the truth upward ◾Spanish native, English B2+.
