Licensed P&C Broker / Underwriter for AI Property Quoting Benchmark

We’re building an evaluation dataset that tests how well AI models perform broker-level reasoning for property insurance quoting. We need an experienced property and casualty broker or underwriter to provide expert knowledge and validate the reference answers used to evaluate the models. This is a paid knowledge and consulting role. No coding is required, and this is not a consumer-facing insurance-sales or coverage-binding role. All project communication, contracting, work, and payment will remain on Upwork. What you’ll do • Help define realistic broker tasks involved in producing a property quote, including eligibility and appetite, carrier matching, required coverages and endorsements, exclusions and risk flags, and reasonable premium ranges for homeowners, renters, and commercial property. • Translate general carrier-appetite concepts, underwriting guidelines, and rating logic into clear reference rules that can be structured for evaluation. • Provide and validate “ground truth” answers for fictional test scenarios, explaining what a sound broker decision or quote would look like and why. • Review AI-generated outputs, identify errors, and explain the professional reasoning behind edge cases. You’re a fit if you have • Active or recent licensed experience as a P&C broker or underwriter across personal and commercial lines. • Hands-on quoting experience with homeowners, renters, and commercial property, including BOP or commercial package policies. • Strong knowledge of carrier appetite, underwriting guidelines, ISO occupancy and construction classes, coverages, endorsements, exclusions, and the practical quote-compilation process. • The ability to explain professional reasoning clearly in writing. Nice to have • Experience in catastrophe-exposed states such as California, Florida, or Texas and residual markets such as FAIR Plan or TWIA. • CPCU or a similar professional designation. • Comfort working with structured data and spreadsheets. Confidentiality and data-use requirements • Use only generalized professional expertise, fictional or anonymized scenarios, and information you are lawfully permitted to share. • Do not provide confidential carrier manuals, proprietary rating algorithms or datasets, employer-owned materials, real policies, quotes, claims, customer data, personal information, or credentials. • Do not copy material from current or former employers or clients. • If an answer depends on confidential carrier-specific rules, state reasonable assumptions and describe the general underwriting factors instead. Project details • Hourly, part-time, and remote. • Fewer than 10 hours per week to start. • Initial engagement of less than one month, with possible ongoing batches of scenario review. • Work begins only after an Upwork contract is active.
