MATLAB & ANSYS Electronics Expert Needed for PMSM Design Optimization

We are seeking an experienced electrical/mechanical simulation engineer to assist with a research project focused on the design optimization of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) for electric aircraft and drone propulsion. The objective is to improve motor efficiency, torque density, thermal performance, and power-to-weight ratio through MATLAB-based optimization, electromagnetic simulations, and thermal analysis. Scope of Work The selected freelancer will be responsible for: Developing a parameterized MATLAB (M-file) PMSM design tool. Calculating motor characteristics including torque, torque ripple, EMF, copper losses, core losses, efficiency, resistance, reactance, and power density. Validating the initial design using ANSYS Electronics 2022 R1 (Maxwell). Performing thermal analysis using ANSYS Icepak or CFD tools. Conducting sensitivity analysis of rotor geometry, magnet position, and stator slot parameters. Implementing and comparing at least three optimization algorithms in MATLAB. Re-validating the optimized design using electromagnetic and thermal simulations. Modifying motor geometry to further improve efficiency and reduce losses. Estimating flight duration improvements for electric aircraft or drone applications. Required Skills MATLAB programming (advanced) PMSM design and analysis ANSYS Electronics (Maxwell) ANSYS Icepak or CFD Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Optimization algorithms (GA, PSO, Differential Evolution, etc.) Electromagnetic machine design Technical research and documentation Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with electric motors for aerospace, UAVs, or EVs. Published research or thesis work related to electric machines. Strong understanding of electromagnetic and thermal simulations.
