HD Map Digitizer / Map Creator — Autonomous Vehicle Mapping (Remote, Ongoing Contract)

HD Map Digitizer / Map Creator for Autonomous Vehicle Mapping We are building high-definition lanelet maps for self-driving trucks operating on public roads in the Phoenix, AZ area. We need experienced digitizers who can extract road features from LiDAR point clouds and create lane-level maps. What you will do: Extract road features from LiDAR point cloud data using TopoDot, MicroStation, TerraSolid, or similar point cloud drafting software. Features include lane markers, curbstones, road edges, guardrails, traffic lights, traffic signs, and stop lines. Build lane-level networks in our mapping platform: assign lane boundaries, create virtual lines, turning lines, and cut lines at every intersection. Perform lane-level network slicing at condition changes and at regular intervals. Create traffic regulatory associations by linking lanes to traffic lights, stop lines, and signage. Validate your work against 70 built-in quality checks for connectivity, geometry consistency, and completeness. Collaborate with other digitizers on shared corridors, ensuring lane network connectivity at handoff points between your work and theirs. Required experience: LiDAR point cloud processing and feature extraction using TopoDot, MicroStation, TerraSolid, or equivalent tools. Creating Lanelet2-format HD maps or similar lane-level map representations (not just feature extraction, but full lane network assembly including boundaries, turn lanes, and regulatory elements). Working in 3D point cloud environments and extracting features at centimeter-level accuracy. Our positional accuracy target is less than 5cm deviation from ground truth. Understanding of road geometry including lane boundaries, intersections, turn lanes, merge points, road markings, school zones, and store approach areas. Preferred experience: OpenStreetMap (OSM) format lanelet maps. GeoJSON layer-based mapping workflows. Autonomous vehicle HD mapping pipelines. Previous work on Lanelet2, Apollo HD Map, or similar AV map formats. Background in geodesy, surveying, or photogrammetry. Tools we use: TopoDot (MicroStation extension) for point cloud feature extraction. Our in-house web platform for lane network assembly and map creation. GeoJSON for layer interchange between tools. Lanelet2 (OSM format) as the final map output. Working arrangement: Remote, any timezone. Some overlap with US Pacific hours preferred for coordination. Ongoing contract, billed hourly. Must be available to start within 1 week. Expected 30 to 40 hours per week. Hourly rate: $15 to $30 per hour depending on experience and speed.
