Marketing & Content Contractor — Electronic Music / Ableton Instrument (ongoing, project-based)

We're a founder-led startup building a new kind of instrument for Ableton Live. Our users are electronic music producers and live performers. The product uses new, non-AI technology that adds a new mode of creation to the standard DAW and instrument workflow. We're moving from a working prototype to public launch, and marketing/content is the single largest sustained stream on our roadmap. The role We're hiring a contractor to own our marketing assets, content, and go-to-market execution through launch — and to help lead the strategy, not just execute tickets. This can't be done well by an outsider. We need someone already embedded in electronic music production culture who happens to have marketing skills — not a generalist marketer who plans to "learn the space." If you produce music yourself and are already active in r/ableton, r/edmproduction, the Ableton forums, or producer Discords, you're exactly who we're looking for. What you'll own +Social content — creation, cadence, and engagement across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok +Community — showing up authentically in Ableton forums, Reddit, Facebook groups, and Discord as a real member, not a marketer +Creator partnerships — outreach to YouTube/EDM creators, managing review-copy distribution and embargo timelines +Email marketing — waitlist management, newsletter, and launch sequences +Paid social — campaign setup and management on Meta and YouTube (budgets are small enough to learn on) +Content calendar — owning the pre-launch and launch calendar, plus UGC collection and amplification +Community/tester recruitment — outreach to online communities and, where relevant, academic programs Who you are *A genuine member of the electronic music production world — you know the difference between a DAW and a DJ controller, and ideally you make music yourself *A strong writer with short-form video skills — and you can show a reel with real view/engagement numbers, not just claims *Comfortable across both content creation and media buying on the major platforms *Experienced with creator/influencer partnerships and running modest paid social campaigns *Self-directed — you'll often work independently while the founders focus on product and testing *Bonus: you've worked in or around music tech (Splice, Native Instruments, Ableton, Plugin Boutique, Output, or other artist-facing tools) Engagement & terms Independent contractor, scoped by deliverables and milestones rather than set hours. You control your own schedule and tools and are free to take on other clients. Compensation is per agreed deliverables — share your rate and we'll align on scope. The initial engagement runs through the launch window; we may scope additional projects together by mutual agreement. To apply, include in your proposal: 1.
