Mechanical Design Engineer - Horology / Watch

Seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to join an early-stage product development project with the goal to create a unique pen featuring a visible mechanical movement, skeletonized architecture, gears, jewel bearings, and animated watch-inspired mechanics. The product will consist of a visible mechanical assembly containing; Exposed gears, Skeletonized bridges, Jewel bearings, Spring-powered kinetic display mechanism, Manual winding system, Push-button activation, Transparent viewing windows. The mechanism is intended to provide a visually engaging animated display, similar to a miniature watch movement. Scope of Work Phase 1 – Feasibility & Concept Development Develop mechanism concepts Recommend architecture Evaluate manufacturability Recommend use of standard vs custom components Estimate component count and assembly requirements Phase 2 – Mechanical Design Gear train design Spring energy storage system Winding mechanism Trigger/release mechanism Bearing and shaft arrangements Bridge and frame design Refill integration Phase 3 – CAD Development Complete 3D CAD model Assembly model Motion analysis Interference checking Tolerance review Phase 4 – Prototype Package Manufacturing drawings BOM Component sourcing recommendations Assembly documentation This is not a conventional pen design project. The ideal candidate will need to have had experience in either Watchmaking mechanisms, Micro-mechanics, Precision gear trains, Small mechanical assemblies and Product development for CNC-manufactured components When applying please include including information on relevent projects and experience.
