Mechanical Engineer (FEA) – Aluminum Clamp Optimization for Bicycle Basket
Worldwide
I have designed an aluminum alloy (6061-T6) clamp for mounting a gumy (TPU95A) dog basket to the top tube of a bicycle. The CAD model and technical drawings are complete. The factory proposed general wall thicknesses, but I believe the clamp looks too bulky. I want to optimize the design to reduce unnecessary material and achieve a slimmer, premium appearance while maintaining strength and safety. I can update the CAD model and drawings myself in Fusion 360, so I am not looking for CAD work. I need an experienced mechanical engineer to: - Review the current design - Perform FEA - Recommend optimal wall thicknesses and geometry - Identify areas where material can be reduced safely - Provide engineering recommendations to get more profesional look. Experience with bicycle accessories, clamps, or bike mounting systems is highly preferred, as this product will be mounted to a bicycle and subjected to vibration and repeated loading.
