Mechanical Engineer Needed for Vehicle-Mounted Deployable Safety Device

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to help evaluate, design, and prototype a new vehicle-mounted roadside safety device intended for law enforcement applications. The product is a deployable reflective safety tape system mounted to a patrol vehicle. At the press of a button, a rigid reflective or led strip tape extends approximately 6 feet into the adjacent lane to increase visibility during traffic stops. The system then retracts automatically and includes a breakaway safety mechanism. We are currently at the concept stage and have completed: Concept renderings Engineering concept package One-page engineering brief Risk assessment and engineering review documents We are looking for an engineer who can: Scope of Work Review the existing concept package Evaluate engineering feasibility Identify design flaws and risks Develop the mechanical architecture Create CAD models and assemblies Recommend materials and components Prepare STEP files and engineering documentation Assist with prototype planning Support DFM reviews with manufacturers Preferred Experience Mechanical product design Consumer products Automotive accessories Outdoor equipment Industrial mechanisms Retractable systems Prototype development Manufacturing and DFM experience Deliverables Feasibility assessment CAD assembly Part files and drawings STEP files Preliminary BOM Prototype-ready engineering package
