Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the development of a precision electromechanical system from concept through production-ready design. This is not a cosmetic enclosure project. The successful candidate should have strong experience designing precision motion systems and be comfortable building and validating prototypes in-house. Responsibilities Design a sheet metal enclosure suitable for manufacturing and assembly. Develop a compact X-Y-Z gantry mechanism with high positional accuracy. Design or integrate a precision micro robotic gripper for small object manipulation. Perform mechanical calculations, tolerance analysis, and component selection. Produce production-intent CAD, manufacturing drawings, GD&T, and mechanical BOM. Optimize the design for DFM/DFA and prototype assembly. Assemble and test mechanical prototypes, identifying and resolving design issues. Required Experience 5+ years of mechanical design experience. Strong expertise in sheet metal enclosure design. Proven experience designing precision gantry systems (linear guides, lead screws, belts, bearings, etc.). Hands-on experience designing or integrating micro robotic grippers or precision end-effectors. Experience with tolerance stack-up, GD&T, and manufacturing processes. Proficiency with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar professional CAD software. Experience taking products from concept to production. Mandatory Requirements Must have access to a workshop or laboratory where mechanical prototypes can be assembled and tested. Ability to source standard mechanical components and perform mechanical validation before design release. Ability to provide photos or videos of assembled prototypes during development. Nice to Have Experience with CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, or rapid prototyping. Experience integrating motors, linear actuators, bearings, and sensors into precision mechanisms. Familiarity with industrial automation, robotics, or laboratory equipment. When Applying Please include: Examples of previous sheet metal enclosure projects.
