Mechanical Engineer — Stainless Steel Hot Tub Design

OVERVIEW We are a South African outdoor wellness company (saunas, cold plunges, hot tubs) and we want to develop our own stainless steel hot tub product for local manufacture. We have a clear vision but we are not engineers — we need someone to work with us collaboratively to figure out the right approach, then produce the drawings and calculations that get this built. Unit concept: 2–3 person freestanding hot tub, approximately 1200×1200×800mm. With benches 1000l load capacity Stainless steel construction. Beyond that, we are open to your input on material grade, plate thickness, and configuration. --- WHAT WE NEED HELP WITH Milestone 1 — Shell & Structure Design the tub shell and supporting frame. Confirm material spec, plate thickness, and structural sizing. Produce SolidWorks model (or equivelant) , flat patterns (DXF), and a basic structural calculation report. Relevant information a- we operate a steel workshop , mainly cutting and welding. for bending and laser cut we have suppliers. b- assume the spa will be above ground and cladded all around WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Someone who has designed fabricated metal products before — ideally anything involving welded sheet metal, water containment, or pool/spa equipment. engineering fundamentals and a collaborative approach matter more. SolidWorks preferred. Able to communicate in plain English with a non-engineering client.
