Mechanical Engineer for DFM

We are a small industrial design consultancy developing consumer electronics and plastic products, with a proven track record. To add further value to our clients we are looking for a partner to take our class A surfaced designs and to production-ready data. PLEASE NOTE: this is not an Industrial Design role, we want someone with a proven track record engineering parts for manufacture. Scope of work (per project): - Convert design-intent models into production-ready part files - Design snap fits (cantilever and annular), clips, living/pin hinges, and other integral fastening features - Add ribs, bosses, gussets, and draft; resolve wall thickness and sink issues - Define part splits, shut-offs, and assembly strategy - Prepare data for toolmaker handoff (STEP + 2D drawings with critical dimensions and tolerances) Requirements: - Proven experience in mechanical/plastics engineering for consumer products - Deep injection moulding knowledge: draft, uniform wall, gate/ejector considerations, tolerance stacks - Portfolio showing parts that have actually been tooled and produced - Experience working directly with toolmakers/moulders is a strong plus How we'll work: - Project-based, starting with one enclosure as a paid trial - We provide design-intent CAD, reference images, and a feature brief - You deliver production data plus a short DFM notes document per part - Ongoing work available if the first project goes well — we have a steady pipeline To apply: Share 2–3 examples of injection moulded parts you've engineered We look forward to reviewing your application
