Meta Quest VR Designer & Developer Team to Build MVP Demo for Children’s Creative Learning Platform
Worldwide
We are looking for an experienced VR designer and development team to help us build the first working MVP/demo version of a children’s VR creative learning platform called Amy & Jamie VR. The goal of this project is to create a working VR experience that can be installed and tested on a Meta Quest headset. This first version does not need to be the full-scale platform, but it should be developed enough to clearly demonstrate the concept to future investors, partners, and early testers. We are not looking for someone to prepare investor materials or pitch decks. We are looking for a real VR team that can help us research, design, develop, test, and deliver a working MVP demo. Project Concept Amy & Jamie VR is a safe, colorful, kid-friendly virtual playground where children can learn, play, build, design, craft, and explore through guided activities. The long-term vision is to create a subscription-based VR and mixed-reality learning platform for families, schools, camps, and educational programs. Children would enter a virtual world and choose between different rooms, such as: Craft Lab Art Studio Design Studio Kitchen Builder Room Builder STEM Workshop Word Factory Story Studio Digital Gallery Mixed-Reality Craft Table For this first project, we want to build a smaller MVP demo that proves the core experience. Main Goal of This Project The main goal is to build a working VR demo that can be installed on our Meta Quest headset. The demo should allow a user to enter a small Amy & Jamie VR world and experience a guided creative activity. The demo does not need to include every future feature. It needs to show the core idea clearly: A child enters a friendly VR environment The child is guided by Amy and/or Jamie The child chooses or starts a creative activity The child interacts with objects in VR The child completes a simple craft, design, or learning activity The finished result can be viewed or saved inside the demo This should feel like the beginning of a real product, not just a static 3D scene. Existing Character Artwork We already have the Amy & Jamie character concept created as still images. These characters are part of the brand identity and should be used as the visual foundation for the VR experience. At this stage, the characters are not yet built as 3D models or animated VR characters. They currently exist only as 2D/still-image references. We will need the selected designer/development team to be able to work from these existing character references and help convert them into VR-ready assets. This may include: Creating 3D versions of the Amy and Jamie characters based on the existing still images Maintaining the same friendly, colorful, kid-friendly look and personality Creating simplified versions if needed for the MVP Preparing the characters for use inside Unity/Meta Quest Adding basic idle animation or guide animation Creating simple pointing, waving, speaking, or instruction gestures Using placeholder characters temporarily if needed during early development Recommending the best approach for character modeling, rigging, and animation within the MVP budget and timeline The goal is not necessarily to create fully advanced animated characters in the first demo, but the characters should feel connected to the existing Amy & Jamie brand and should help guide the child through the VR experience. Experience turning 2D character artwork into 3D characters, VR-ready avatars, or animated guide characters is strongly preferred. Preferred MVP Demo Scope We are open to professional recommendations, but the first demo may include: A small virtual playground lobby One working Craft Lab or creative room One simple Design Studio or builder room One guided activity Basic interaction with objects Basic voiceover or text guidance Simple Amy/Jamie guide character or placeholder character Kid-friendly UI Basic completion/reward moment Basic gallery or saved result screen Build file that can be installed and tested on Meta Quest The experience should be simple but polished enough to show the direction of the product. Milestone 1: Product Blueprint & MVP Demo Specification Goal Define exactly what should be included in the first working VR demo and what should be left for later. We already have the broad concept, but we need the development team to help turn it into a practical MVP demo scope that can actually be built and tested. Work Included Review the Amy & Jamie VR concept Review the existing Amy & Jamie character artwork Recommend the best first demo experience Define the child user journey Define the first VR environment or room Define the first activity or lesson Define the core interactions needed Define what assets are required Define how the Amy/Jamie characters should be used in the demo Define what can be custom-built vs purchased/modified Define what should be included in version 1 Define what should be saved for future versions Create a simple technical and development plan Deliverables MVP demo specification User flow for the first VR experience Feature list for version 1 List of required 3D assets List of required interactions Character conversion recommendation Recommended development approach Technical requirements for Meta Quest Timeline estimate for the demo build Expected Result By the end of this milestone, we should know exactly what the first working demo will include, how the Amy & Jamie characters will be used, and how the demo will be built. Milestone 2: Visual Concept, Character Conversion & VR Environment Design Goal Create the visual direction and first environment for the Amy & Jamie VR demo. The experience should feel colorful, creative, friendly, and child-safe. It should not feel like a generic VR template. It should feel like the beginning of a branded children’s creative world. This milestone should also address how our existing 2D Amy & Jamie character artwork will be converted into usable VR guide characters. Work Included Design the look and feel of the first VR space Create or source the required 3D environment assets Create the first virtual lobby or activity room Create the visual direction for the Craft Lab or Design Studio Create or prepare Amy/Jamie guide character concept Convert, model, or prepare simplified 3D versions of the characters if included in scope Prepare basic character animations if included in scope Create basic UI style for children Create badge/reward visual direction Prepare scene layout for VR use Make sure the environment is optimized for Meta Quest Deliverables First VR environment design Scene layout 3D assets or asset list Amy/Jamie 3D character direction or simplified character model approach Character modeling/rigging recommendation Kid-friendly UI direction Basic lighting and atmosphere Optimized VR-ready environment scene Expected Result By the end of this milestone, we should have the visual foundation of the demo ready inside the development environment, including a clear plan or first version for how Amy and Jamie will appear in VR. Milestone 3: Core VR Development & Interaction Build Goal Build the actual working VR experience. This milestone should turn the planned scene, characters, and activity into something interactive that can be tested on a Meta Quest headset. Work Included Set up the VR project in Unity or recommended engine Build for Meta Quest Implement player movement or teleportation Implement object interaction/grabbing Implement guided activity flow Implement simple Amy/Jamie instruction system Implement character placement and basic guide behavior Implement UI/menu controls Implement activity steps Implement completion/reward moment Implement basic save/gallery or result screen if feasible Optimize for headset performance Prepare internal test builds Deliverables Working VR demo build Interactive VR environment One guided activity Object interaction system Basic Amy/Jamie guide system Basic character presence or placeholder guide system Basic completion flow Testable Meta Quest build file Source project files Expected Result By the end of this milestone, we should have a working version of the demo that can be installed on the headset and tested. Milestone 4: Research, Testing & Improvement Goal Test the working demo, identify what feels strong or weak, and improve the experience before final delivery. This milestone is about making sure the demo is not just technically working, but also clear, comfortable, and easy to understand for children and adults. Work Included Test the demo on Meta Quest Review comfort and usability Check controls and interaction clarity Review child-friendly flow Review performance and loading Review how Amy/Jamie guidance feels inside the experience Fix bugs Improve confusing parts Adjust environment, UI, character behavior, or activity flow as needed Recommend future features based on testing Recommend the next version scope Deliverables Updated tested demo build Bug fixes Usability improvements Performance improvements Testing notes Recommended changes for next version Future feature recommendations Expected Result By the end of this milestone, the demo should be stable enough to show to investors, partners, or early testers. Milestone 5: Final Demo Delivery & Future Build Roadmap Goal Finalize the demo and deliver all files, builds, and documentation needed for us to install, test, and present the experience. This milestone should also include a clear recommendation for what should be built next if we continue into a larger MVP. Work Included Prepare final Meta Quest installable build Provide source files and project files Provide instructions for installing the demo on the headset Provide basic documentation Provide list of included assets and licenses Provide technical notes Provide known limitations Provide recommended next development phase Provide estimated scope for version 2 Final cleanup and delivery Deliverables Final installable Meta Quest demo Source project files Installation instructions Basic documentation Asset/license list Technical notes Known issues list Recommended next phase roadmap Version 2 development recommendations Expected Result By the end of this milestone, we should have a working VR demo installed on our headset and ready to show. Ideal Candidate / Team We are looking for a person or team with experience in: Meta Quest VR development Unity VR development VR interaction design Mixed reality or passthrough experience, if possible Kid-friendly app or game design 3D environment design Character-guided experiences Turning 2D character references into 3D characters Character modeling, rigging, or basic animation Educational or creative learning apps Performance optimization for standalone headsets Building installable headset demos Clear communication and milestone-based work A small team may be best for this project, ideally including: VR developer 3D designer/environment artist Character designer/modeler UI/UX designer Animator or rigger, if needed Important Notes This first project is not the full Amy & Jamie platform. We are looking to build a working MVP demo that proves the concept and can be shown on an actual VR headset. We do not need investor pitch deck services. We do not need fundraising help. We do not need only concept art. We need a real working VR demo. We already have the Amy & Jamie character direction as still images, but the characters still need to be translated into VR-ready form. We are open to using existing assets, templates, plugins, or frameworks where appropriate, as long as the final experience feels polished, branded, and suitable for children. We want a practical team that can guide us on what is realistic for the first demo and help us avoid overbuilding too early. Proposal Instructions When applying, please include: Examples of VR or Meta Quest projects you have built Examples of kid-friendly, educational, or interactive projects if available Examples of character-based projects, especially 2D-to-3D character conversion Your recommended engine and development approach Whether you recommend Unity or another platform How you would structure the first working demo What you think should be included in the first version What you think should be avoided in the first version Whether you can create VR-ready 3D characters from existing 2D/still-image references Whether you can handle modeling, rigging, and basic animation Whether you can provide an installable build for Meta Quest Whether you will provide source files at completion Your estimated timeline for each milestone Your team members and their roles Any questions you would need answered before starting Please do not send a generic proposal. We are looking for someone who understands that this is a children’s VR creative learning concept and can help us turn it into a working headset demo.
