Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mobility Engineer / Motor Control Expert to help us optimize the driving behavior and user experience of our electric wheelchairs. Important Note: The goal of this project is not to redesign the product or replace our current manufacturer. Instead, we need a hands-on external expert who can support our team, help us deeply understand the system variables, and collaborate with us to optimize controller settings together with our supplier. If you have practical experience in fine-tuning how electric mobility devices move, accelerate, and respond to user input, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Analyze & Optimize: Review our current electric wheelchair setup (focusing on brushed motors and controller firmware/software settings). Parameter Tuning: Help us optimize critical driving characteristics such as acceleration curves, braking responsiveness, joystick sensitivity, torque delivery, and turning behavior. Supplier Collaboration: Act as a technical bridge between our team and our manufacturer to implement and test these adjustments effectively. Consulting: Provide actionable insights on how to achieve a smoother, safer, and more premium driving experience. Requirements & Qualifications We are looking for a specialist with practical, hands-on experience. Ideally, you should have a background in one or more of the following: Direct Experience: Working with electric wheelchairs, electric scooters, AGVs, robotics, or similar low-speed electric mobility products. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of brushed motors, BLDC motor controllers, motor control systems, and embedded systems. Expertise in Tuning: Proven track record of parameter tuning (torque control, speed profiles, joystick deadbands, and safety thresholds). Project Details Project Type: Fractional / Consulting (Hourly or Milestone-based) Duration: Short to medium-term (with potential for ongoing support as we refine future batches) How to Apply: Please briefly describe your previous experience with electric wheelchairs or similar mobility devices. If you have worked with specific controller brands (e.g., PG Drives Technology, Dynamic Controls, Curtis, etc.), please mention them in your proposal.
